I assume it would def be better to not drink something so "fake" but he's gonna drink 'em anyway so I just wondered if it would be ok on ph1 and/or ph2
  • The cornerstone of SBD is to avoid highly processed foods so it's best to avoid this stuff. The ingredients that worry me are "strawberry puree, fructose, less than 1% of modified corn starch, sucralose". You can make a similar shake with Splenda, milk, egg or egg white and a small amout of SF Jello if you want strawberry flavour.
Phase I is the DETOX stage and this could interfere with that process.
  • do you mean raw egg Ruth? that doesn't sound safe, am I wrong?
  • The raw egg and egg white that comes in the containers is fine - it's pasteurized. Check out the recipoe section for some protein shakes too. Personally I've never worried about raw eggs, probably because I know the chickens personally!
  • You can also try plain lf/nf yogurt blended with some milk, splenda (which is sucralose, btw) sf vanilla extract, and maybe some cocoa powder or protein powder, if you can find some without sugars that you like. I had a bad reaction to some whey protein powder once, and I've never tried other types so I'm not sure what's out there.

When you get to phase 2, you can add in some berries.

Making them yourself is probably cheaper, too!
  • Sucralose is Splenda, but the strawberry puree, fructose (which is the sugar from fruits), and MFC would be nono's - especially on phase 1. Best avoid it, I think.
  • Sorry! I read it as sucrose not sucralose. Splenda is fine, of course.
  • Wasn't that sneaky of them? Giving it such a similar name!
  • thanks all, he's still going to drink them but I'll try to push him to wait til phase 2 and still to take it easy. Honestly for a deep fried man made out of sugar and fatty meat, I'm thrilled to pieces for the changes he's already made
  • He sounds interesting. I've never seen one of those!
  • hi all! this is my first post to the board! i wanted to add a similar question to you all. i am on phase II and a bit nervous about it. i lost a quick amount of weight (about 10 lbs in the first week) and then the scale literally has not moved in 3 weeks. *ARGH* anyway, as i said, im on phase II and looking for a good yogurt. i've seen a few posted here on the boards but not the one my boyfriend picked out. its by dannon and has similar ingregidents as what batmomm posted. its called Dannon Light n Fit and is also sweetened with Splenda. Its fruit flavored (strawberry bananna today). Are these ingredients ok on Phase II.
  • I try to avoid fruit anything unless it's the real deal and even then I try to watch myself.
I love Blue Bunny Light 85 - Vanilla Creme. It's fat free & has no sugar added. I've found that after doing Phase I, vanilla yogurt is just sweet enough for me!
