What's your "munchies" cure??

  • Whenever I am wanting something sweet or I have already ate a meal and I still want just a little something what I eat is usually some cottage cheese. I also like having a piece of wheat toast. I need more ideas on how to help my cravings. If anyone has some good ideas please let me know!! Thanks!!!

  • A nice hot mug of white tea usually does it for me. Frozen grapes too!

  • Popcorn! I airpop 1/4c, then spray with a buttery spray for a 150cal snack. It makes lots!

    I also buy reduced cal snacks (such as cheeze-its or Lays Light) and package them in 100cal packs in Ziplocks so that I always have a snack handy.

    Need sweet? I love Quaker Peanut Butter chocolate chip rice cakes, expecially if smeared with 2T nonfat cream cheese mixed w/1t coca and a packet of sweetner. Another 100cal snack. Mmmmmmm!
  • Yep, I go for the rice snacks as well, the store-brand equivalent to Quaker Quakes (I like Kroger brand better). The chocolate ones are fantastic for a sweet tooth and for regular munchies I like the cheddar flavor.

    I don't really snack around much. My habit is nibbling. When I cook a meal, I nibble. If my son has leftover food on his plate (that's not already bitten into and all gross looking, lol) I nibble it. If he has a couple of crackers left in his snack bowl, I eat them.

    Nibble nibble nibble. I've always been a nibbler. There's no telling how many extra calories I put away per day just nibbling on stuff, but I've lost about 80 pounds, so I guess it's not affecting me *TOO* bad!
  • i have diabetes so sweet snacks are out. i have rice cakes. try cleaning teeth if you want something sweet. glen
  • ^ that's a good idea! When you're craving you can always brush your teeth because then no matter what you want.. it's not going to be as good with toothpaste taste in your mouth!

    I've found brushing my teeth at night has cut down a lot of before bedtime snack cravings!
  • I've turned into a gum chewer! I really like the Orbitz and Trident orange. It's not chocolate, but it satisfies my need for something sweet and keeps me away from the M&M jar in the cube across from me!
  • I keep a big bowl of sugar free hard candies---life saver's sugar free delites in chocolate caramel cream is tasty and has, I think, 7 calories. It has a strong, yummy chocolate flavor and lasts for awhile. I also like sugar free popcicles ---they have some fudgebars that are 20 calories.
  • A real diet saver for me, belive it or not, has been the "sugary" cereal. I usually have at least one cup cereal with one cup skim milk every day. Keeps me thinking I have had a "treat" today. Not all, but most have 110-120calories per 1 cup serving.
  • I like to have a cup of baby carrots and dip them in some delicious hummus with chopped black and green olives in it from Trader Joe's - yum!

    Oh, and if I want something sweet I'll have a few chewy fruit Mentos candies (10 calories each).

    20 Red Hot Candies

    Chocolate Coated Energy Bars (have tons of vitamins) (check the calories)

    IceCream Sandwhich OR a Fudgecicle (check the calories)

    Seseme Seeds (or any kind of nut and seeds) (portion control this) (has many benefits)

    Edible Sugar Snap Peas (straight out of the bag)

    V8 Juice
  • A good treat that makes you feel full as well is sugar free hot chocolate. You can even through a dab of cool whip lite on it and you are in for a warm creamy dessert.
  • I generally have tuna in a can, mixed with light Miracle Whip, relish, and mustard to put on top of crackers. Usually satisfies my craving for the day.
  • Depends on if I want sweet, salty, crunchy or need some fruit.

    Options:
    94% ff popcorn
    plain ff yogurt mixed with ff sugar free choc. pudding
    a little bit of cereal (like Wheat Chex) and ff milk
    interesting olives
    cottage cheese mixed with applesauce
    one small square of dark chocolate
    a strongly-flavored kind of herbal tea (ginger, etc.)
