Walkaway the Pounds

  • Has anyone tried Walk-a-way the pounds by leslie Samsone? Does the videos provide enough of a workout to lose weight?

  • Yes, in my opinion, they are great.
  • I don't have lots of experience with it, but would have to say YES. I haven't been able to go to the gym for 4 days now because of sick kiddos, and I've been using the WATP 3 mile. The background music slightly annoys me, but that's my only gripe. It's 45 minutes long, low intensity and very easy to follow. It includes walking, side steps, knee lifts, kicks, leg curls (kick backs), and double side steps and double knee lifts. I sure do feel it in my legs, butt and thighs!! I like it. I'm a gym type of gal, but am considering buying her Walk Away the Pounds - Walk and Jog dvd for times like this when I'm house-bound.
  • I love them. I find it's very easy to increase the intensity if they get too easy. And I do have several friends who have walked their way to weight loss. It's the perfect exercise for those who are very heavy, are low on resources or hate the gym.
  • I love her series although I've only use the 1 and 2 mile walks, but they do give you a fair workout and you feel good and energetic afterwards. Tia
  • I have the Ab series and like it. I haven't done the 3 miles yet... but am working up to it. I do the 2 mile. It is definately a work out. With the arms and legs going you can really get your heart rate up.
  • I have been doing WATP videos since August. They're definitely good for someone who's just starting out with exercise (I was at the time), and there are easy ways, such as using light hand weights or jogging in place while they walk, to up the intensity if you want to make it more challenging. I do find them a bit monotonous to do all the time, so I mix in some walking outside, Pilates, and a few other workouts I like, but WATP is still something I go back to at least a couple of times a week.
  • Hi
I only walk outside, or if I have no other choice the tredmill, but you know what ever work's for you more power to you, every little bit is a help!!

    SMALL GOAL's FIRST!

  • I got up late and wanted to get a 'starter workout' going...so I put in the mile power walk. It got my blood pumping a bit. I'll be doing an All Star Workout on Fit TV later on today...but it's a start.

You know she has the new 5 mile workout?

(I think WATP works for a lot of people -- especially if they are large and embarrassed to walk outside (or can't walk outside). It's a good start and I really enjoy them)
  • I agree that these videos are great, but the one thing that irritates me is the fact that she says "potent" repeatedly throughout. I counted one day, and she said it 6 times in 45 minutes! Oy vey! (Though, when I started counting, I lost track of time, and the workout went by faster...give it whirl some time and let me know if I missed any "potents")
  • I liked it...
but I started to get bored with it. I did the 3 mile tape everyday...alternating WATP and WATP for abs 3 mile tapes. It was a workout. I just started Turbo Jam which is the total opposite of WATP, and it's really intense. Good luck.

  • Ebay has her tapes pretty cheap.
  • Her DVD's are great for beginners, or for those days when you still want a workout but don't want to jump all over the place to get it.
  • Hi there! I'm new on this forum, hope you don't mind me jumping in. I have the WATP dvd's and I find them very helpful, especially in the beginning when you are trying to get into a good workout routine. I think anything can get boring if you don't mix it up at all, but IMO this is a good one!
  • It's really more of a low-impact aerobic workout, walking workout makes it sound much simpler than it really is! It really works my thighs and glutes!
