I just started dieting and working out as a New Years Res. Ive been religous about eating no more than 1200 calories per day and working out at the gym 4-5 times a week for an hour. I do 45-60 minutes of cardio and work on the arm weight machines. I've recently noticed that my lower back is very achy. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? I'm thinking it might be from the adjustment of being immobile and lazy to working out muscles that havent been used in years but I think Im still looking for reassurance.
Thanks!

(hey, speakin' from experience). Instead of the arm weights at this point, you might want to shift that time to doing crunches and other exercises to strengthen your abdominal region to help balance and support your back muscles while you are doing the aerobic work. Personally, I'd add in some stretches too targeted at these key areas.
