Vegetables

  • Just joined...

Have been reading through all these posting and have really enjoyed all the information posted

Started this diet yesterday and did pretty good, however I do have one question that I hope someone can answer I haven't been able to find it in the book.

On wave 1 can you eat as many vegetables as you want. I work full-time and love to snack so I like to bring radishes, celery, and cucumbers to work to snack on before lunch and after lunch. Am I eating to many vegetables since I am eating more then what is allocated for lunch time?

  • Probably not. Those types of veggies are so low in calories that you'd have to eat massive amounts to do any damage. If they are helping to keep you satisifed and away from more calorie dense foods, then I don't see a problem. However, if snacking is more from habit than the need for food, then you might want to try to curb it a little, maybe find something to do instead of eat.
  • I got in trouble for what I am about to mention on another thread. I have recently given up Coke and started drinking water. I have lost weight and I am finding that I believe that I have been craving hydration not food for years. I have always been what I call a "grazer" and munch all day long. Now I drink some water and in most cases it helps, sometimes it is truly a sugar or salt craving. but if I resist or eat some veggies like you are doing it seems to pass. The veggies you are eating are tier 1 friendly and are mostly water. Good luck to you--it's Day 1 for me too.
  • Replacing coke with water will help you lose weight because you are reducing unnecessary calories. Water is, of course, wonderful for all parts of our body anyway

I agree, it's easy to confuse hunger with thirst if we don't actually feel thirsty, but all we need is a little water. Many vegetables and fruits have a high water content, so eating them helps. Sometimes I'll find myself standing in front of my fridge (and wondering how I got there ) and I try to ask myself if I'm really hungry or will a glass of water suffice. Most of the time, water works. I had to force myself to do that a few times before it started to come naturally. Sometimes, though, you really are craving nutrition, and veggies are the wisest way to go.
  • Thanks so much for the advice I do think that I munch on vegetables just because. Maybe drinking more water will help....

I have to say that I was really bad this weekend so I am starting all over again today... I have to try and stay positive my DH keeps telling me that I look fine and that he doesn't care if I lose weight or not (that's nice) but it also makes dieting harder then it should be. I know I do need to lose weight cause I can't even wear a tucked in shirt cause I feel so self conscience.

    Thanks for all the support
