Dr Phil Today

  • I really don't like the man as he looks like husband #1 but do cat ch the show the odd afternoon.
Today is on Weightloss so I may take a boo. Maybe you can catch it.
  • I like his show since he tells it like it is. But have you seen his line of diet bars? They're loaded with sugar!
  • I went to his website...I have a love/hate relationship with the man. Sometimes I love him...sometimes -- not so much...LOL

The story about the woman who lost almost 200 lbs is very scary. I often worry about that. But I sincerely feel for her.
  • Well, I'd rather have loose skin than be 200 pounds! It's a trade off. You can die from being overweight but nobody ever died from loose skin - unless they tripped!
  • So true. But I'm surprised she didn't think for one second that she'd have some loose skin. Did she exercise at all during her weight loss? (I'm not pointing fingers...I'm just wondering) I can't believe she said she's rather be heavier than look like that~
  • How do we help make our skin not look all gross?
  • There's a whole thread on this in the Maintainers' Forum. I'll try to find it.
  • I know this woman who sings at my church....who had bypass surgery and lost like 200 pounds, her skin kind of went back for the most part! If you are young it really helps I guess...If not, there is surgery.
  • Here's the link. Weight Loss and Skin FAQs.
No one can tell in advance how her skin will react to weight loss. But ask any of the big losers here (and there are LOTS!) and they'll tell you that excess skin is better than excess fat any day of the week.
  • I haven't lost 200 pounds, but then I know some from here who've lost around 120 and had loose skin...so it can happen to anyone. I'm definitely going to have loose skin on my stomach, but other than that and my 'girls', everything else is tight and fine. Who knew? Exercise can help, as can slow weightloss. But we can't possibly think that we can do things to our bodies (like gain 200 pounds) and not have some effect. Plastic surgery is an option if the skin is a huge issue. Sometimes insurance will pay for it if it's honestly causing you health issues. (is tripping over it a health issue? )

I look forward to watching...thanks for the tip, Ruthie!
  • I'd have to agree with your statement about doing things to our body and not expecting some repercussion, beachgal. I was just thinking about that very same thing.
