When I hit that 2hr mark...........

  • I feel like I am totally starving. I wonder why that is. I am eating everything I should for my m eals but once that 2hr mark hits, my stomach is starving!

    Anyone else feel that way?
  • OH MY!! I feel the same too. Sometimes it is very hard to get to the 3rd hour, but I manage. I would like to have some ideas of snacks to help out that are freebies. I usually eat snack size jello that is 10 cals with a small, small dab of fat free whipped topping. That usually helps. I am starving right now and I have one more hour. I am trying to keep myself busy.

  • Drink some warm tea...

I suspect that you likely aate a good deal of sweets over the holidays? When you do that it messed with insulin levels - this can cause this sort of hunger when trying to cut back. I am fortunate that I only have a teeny tiny sweet tooth - my downfal is savory snacks - pretty much any way you make a potato - I am on it, LOL...

Anyway - Hot tea helps me when I feel hungry in between... warmth makes you feel satiated... plus distraction. Do something to take you mind off of it.

You could, of course, just be tired. Often people believe they are hungry when in fact they are just tired. If you can, lay down for a cat nap - or walk around the block - depending on who you ask, LOL...

Hang in there... the next snack is just around the bend!
  • Actually I have insulin issues anyway due to me being over weight. That is one reason I have GOT to get this weight off! Thanks for the reminder!
  • You could drink some warm low salt chicken broth or beef....it tastes pretty good and very low calories. Also a small can of tomatoe juice is good and celery fills me up.

  • Laurie - if you have insulin levels - try to make your snack include some protein - a cheese stick of some kind perhaps. This will prevent your blood sugar from plumetting which could be happening causeing you to feel so hungry... Carbs - even the good kind to a lesser degree - can do that and if you are eating just carbs for a snack - I can easily see that happening to you. SOme days I know I have to have a protein snack or I won't make it...

Hang in there... This too shall pass...
  • i am on a diet that i eat every two hours and if i don't eat two hours on the dot i am starving all the time too
  • Now you bring up another point!!! Dr. Daisey Bug you know me so well to have just met me!!! LOL! I do suffer from low blood sugar due to the high insulin levels!!! This I shall try too!!!
  • I've found graham crackers are a diabetics best friend- just plain, not the cinnamon. I don't bother with the Honey Maid 100 calorie snack packs. The real thing is more filling and lacks the sweetness that makes you want to open up another pack!
  • Laurie - this plan is actually ideal for people with insulin issues. The idea is do NOT let your blood sugar plummet. Eating every three hours is a great start - I just know that if I eat a carb by itself - I am asking for trouble. I almost always will eat a little protein too. I have hypoglycemia so I must constantly be aware of that. I just know whathelps me - thinking it will be good for you too - you sound like you have a similar thing going on.

BTW - just asking... do you have PCOS by any chance?
  • What is PCOS?
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
