Ladies, I've been eating like a lil piggy and today I am going out for lunch with people from work, mandatory. I am going to get the baked scrod that comes with vegetables and a side. Here are my options:
rice pilaf
red potatoes
roasted rosemary potatoes
Which do you think is going to be the healthiest choice? I'm striving for low fat & low cal. Not concerned with carbs.
Thanks!!

I'm not sure what to tell you. In my opinion, it depends on how the potatoes and rice are prepared. If the potatoes are roasted and don't have globs of butter and oil, I'd probably pick those (might be because I prefer potatoes to rice though). You might ask the waitress how the dishes are prepared.
Sorry I can't be much help!

My guess is that the rice pilaf will be prepared healthier (red potatoes probably have lots of olive oil to roast them)... plus they have a mix of rices, so you might get some whole grains in there.
Of course, I prefer rice pilaf to potatoes...
Oh! On second thought, can you call the place that you'll be eating and grill them on how their sides are prepared? Then you can know ahead of time what's the best.
Any chance you could ask for double vegetables and just skip the rice or potatoes? If not, my bet would be the rice pilaf. I love potatoes, but in restaurants they always seem to have tons of oil or butter.
