I live in the Phila. suburbs and haven't been able to find fat free Parmesan, only low fat. Would really like to find some with the holidays here. Can anyone tell me where to get it?
Thanks
Sue
I can't find it in Chicago either.
I'm starting to think it's an urban legend. (I used to have a friend that used it about ten years ago, but it was like sawdust so I assumed it was discontinued.) I use the soy stuff. If that helps at all.
Me too, Tanya. I use the soy shreds. It think it's a blend of romano/parmesan/mozarella. Has that nice sharp taste you are looking for when cooking with parm.
I just use the light, I can't find it either.
Thank you all, at least I know it isn't me!!
How are the soy cheeses? Are they pretty tasty? Any after tastes? I can't find ff parmaesan in the Detroit area, either. I have been debating trying soy cheeses, but cheese is something I'm picky about. Anyone wanna share their experience with brands, etc...? I'd appreciate it!!! THANKS!!
I think what I tried is Galaxy shreds. I found them in my grocery store in the produce aisle. I wouldn't just eat it plain or in my fingers but honestly in a salad or other recipe it's darn good. And....soy's good for us! I don't think you'd be disappointed.
I like Veggie Blends (I think that's what it's called). It's in a green bag. I'm like Vickie, it's not too great by itself (although with a little mustard and crackers it's not bad) but in a recipe that has lots of flavors it is a good replacement.
Thanks Vickie and Melissa,
I will note those two brands and check them out. I really love cheese in my salads and on pasta, so I will try it and get over it. I use Boca products and wasn't scared to try that instead of meat-- I don't know why I'm being a wimp about it. I'll just do it! Thanks, again!!!
