Why isn't there an Atkins and South Beach Life Timers thread?

  • I'm just curious...I see the weight watchers life timers and was looking for a place to read what the atkins lifetimers talk about...Is there such a thing as an Atkins life timer?

    I'm skeered.
  • Certainly there are people who have made low carbing a way of life. I think some of them post in the maintainers forum and perhaps some of the regulars here can reassure you a little better than I can. I am not on Atkins or Southbeach. I am on Protein Power and also use their bulletin board so I talk to people there who have been maintaining on that plan for years. They are a valuable resource.
  • There is nothing to be afraid of! Maintaining is the hardest part of weight loss. Trust me I know! Most Atkins folks tweek their diet as they go along, and usually end up with a lower fat, but still low carb diet. They venture off to other forums. Like the maintainers like Petra said. Besides Ive never heard of "lifetime members" in anything except ww. So I wouldnt worry about it.
  • You know whats funny is about 2 years ago this place was HOPPIN with people (on Atkins) and alot of them got to goal. Then Poof !!! they were off the boards as if they didn't need support anymore. I'm guessing thats what happened.

    JMHO

I don't want you to be scared by how I've done. I'm just not to that point yet and plan to stick around here and offer the support that I've received these past two years to others who come along. This is my diet home.

If it's any comfort, I've never been a life timer with the countless of other plans I've followed either, so it's me, not the Atkins', low carb, or any other diet. I've been on Atkins' 5 years, lost a lot, kept it off two years, then failed myself, but I'm working towards my goal now and am not looking behind and staying positive. So although I'm not a life timer, I'm "atkins for life" and will do the best I can.
  • I seriously wonder what's happened to the people I first met when I came here. I wondered if they were maintaining, returned to their previous weight, changed plans and so on. Thing is, I know that I will have a life time struggle with weight. It's an issue with me. One I will ALWAYS have to stay alert to. Mainly because food is so important to me. Atkins has been the ONLY "diet" that has helped me lose weight and feel like I'm actually in control. So no need to be afraid!! There will ALWAYS be support
  • I suspect we will see alot of those folks come January. Last January, brought out a bunch for about a month, that we used to see here. I have seen a few on other threads on this board.
