I walked today!

  • Yeah I'm so proud of myself. I actually went for a non purpose walk. I only made it a block when my stomache started to ache a lot and turned back. But I'm very happy that I actually made it out the door and went for a walk with my little guy that didn't end in buying something, like my "normal" walks do since it's usually only at a store that I seem to walk. I also walked yesterday. There was a santa parade here and my MIL drove downtown and parked a lot further away then she needed to. Plus since we put a float in the parade I was the go to girl for my MIL and FIL who did the decorating. I overdid it yesterday though cause when I finally got to rest my hips started to cramp up on me. But my walk today made me feel good.
  • Congratulations! I know how it feels to not be able to move like you want to. Any little bit helps.

Any parks nearby? A friend and I take a 2.5 mile walk that goes through a park and we stop for her 3 yo to play. I also pick up my prescriptions and drop off/pick up video rentals on the way. I live in a pretty congested area, so I have a lot around me. Even the grocery store is nearby, so if I just want one item, I can walk to get it. Or a few, take my son in the stroller and put the groceries underneath. I look for reasons to walk somewhere that don't always require shopping. Because me too...if I see it, I'm likely to buy it.
  • Unfortunately where I live is a.k.a Tiny Town. There are no parks here other then a memorial park that has a slide, gazebo and monument for fishermen lost at sea. It's really small. And where I live the only way to get to a store is actually up a very steep hill that I could hardly make up when I wasn't pregnant. I'd be very scared of taking the stroller up the hill (if I could actually push it that is) because comming down there would be nothing to stop it from crashing into the ditch that lines the roads here instead of sidewalks, if I were to lose my grip or stumble. I went for a walk again today and made it another 2 short blocks with DH and DS. It's still a hill but it's a more gentle slope so you don't notice the up part as much until I'm about 2 houses from home. There are flat areas around to walk at but I'd have to get DS in car and drive and I know I wouldn't keep it up very long. So I will stick to my slight hill for now.
