These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

    WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!
  • Hello Ladies,

Well, I tried and I did it.. Yea me. I am speaking of making the next thread. I guess there is always a first time for everything.

Catherine: I am so excited for you. I can almost picture you in your gown. I know you will be beautiful. I hope you can take a picture and post it when you are finished.

Congrats to all loosers and for those in a slump... Come on ladies lets end this year down a few more pounds. We can do this.

    Blessings to everyone,
    Dogpal
  • How wonderful it's been to see new faces here, and to see how familiar faces are doing.

I'm only sorry that I haven't been around more often, but my compluter's been completely down. Not just he internet, but everything. It won't even turn on anymore, and the only thing worse than losing my internet was losing access to my new hobby: digital coloring. I'm going to see about getting it fixed this coming week.

I've had a very difficult time lately because of a friend going through some major life changes. We've been practically inseperable for years, even spending more time with each other than our own boyfriends, but times, they are a-changin'.

But I'm doing okay now. I've tried my best to focus on eating healthy, and it feels good to be making progress again.

You know, I've found I love those little Lean Cuisine meals, and I've been eating a lot of Subway while I'm out.

I still want to turn to more natural foods, and I'm allowing myself to make my progressions slowly.

One day at a time. That's all we can do, right?

I've been far from a perfect angel this year, but to know I've lost about 50 pounds without beating myself up or totally freaking out? It's amazing. Maybe I'm finally making peace with all of this; my weight, my boyfriend, my best friend, my entire life. . .

And to realize that I have things to be thankful for, that I have a future because of the choices I've been making here and now. . . there's nothing better than that.
  • Geez, I am so tired of being over 300 pounds, I just took some pictures so I can see the results when I start to change and it was so depressing. I feel like I don't even know the woman in the photos. I swear I don't look like that. I wish I could fast forward. Maybe a head transplant would help! yuck, I am sorry guys I just feel ugly today.
  • Hi all. I am new here and I am 308 pounds. Sheri, I sooo know what you are talking about. When I look at pics or in the mirror, I swear I'm looking at a stranger. It's like, is that me?? Can't be!

But congratulations of a 25 pound weight loss so far.You may have a way to go but look at how much you already accomplished.
  • Hope you've all having a good weekend.....

BTW can we put links in our siggys for our blogs etc...
  • HI all --

Catherine: It's fun to hear about your wedding dress. I bought material for my wedding dress in China. It is a teal silk (so not your typical color, but I really wanted it!) that I got for $7/yard and that seemed like a great deal!

Dogpal: I have to confess, I thought about starting a new thread earlier today and didn't. WHy? Because I never have either... tell me it was easy!

Karen: What does your sig say in Japanese? Something about a girl?

Sheri: I know what you mean. I didn't take true before pictures, but I did after I'd lost 20 pounds, and I was so shocked at how fat I still was!! I was depressed too and couldn't imagine what the real before pictures would be like! It gets better!

teahoney: WELCOME!!!!! I think you will enjoy it here!
  • Well I slept well last night which makes a change, hope everyone has a good Sunday!
  • I caught Mazarin's poor sleep. I guess I didn't sleep poor, just not enough. I wanted more than 6 hours! Maybe I'll nap later. Kinda disappointing to wake up when it's dark, and before the grocery stores open, on a Sunday, though.

You know, I just realized that though I ate 1570 calories yesterday, 680 of them (almost half!) came from... a salad. Wendy's chicken BLT salad, with honey mustard dressing, to be precise. Now, I went into the day knowing how incredibly high calorie their salad is, and planning around it, as I wanted one. But I wonder how many unsuspecting people are caught unaware. I mean, you can go get a combo with a single and chili for less calories than that (though more than twice as much saturated fat, I suppose).
  • Happy Sunday Everyone!!

Well, good news for me! I am down 3lbs this week. Considering that TOM will arrive, I am quite pleased. I had a big ole greasy dinner yesterday too when I went shopping with a friend, so Yippee! I am hoping for another 3lbs by the middle of the week when I am less bloated A girl can dream!

I officially finished my Christmas shopping yesterday. I am terribly broke but we had a great time!! Nice feeling! Now if I can only get all these christmas cards ready for class next week then I will be in great shape. ( For those who are wondering, I teach card making and paper craft classes)

I am thinking since it is such a nice day here today that we should be outdoors putting up our christmas lights. Maybe I can convince Steve to do that! I like putting them up while the weather outside is bearable and not in the middle of a snowstorm (This has happened!) We just won't turn them on until Dec 1.

Hello to all that have joined us and those that are lurking out there.

Congrats on all successes this weekend!!!!!

Catherine ~ We can't wait to see pictures and hear all about your experiences as you sew your dress. I beaded the train on mine for almost 6 months! It was great therapy for me though as we were going through some tough times with my MIL (breast cancer) and just general big wedding stress.

Have a wonderful sunday! Will try to peek in again later!

  • Deep fried sushi?!

My husband and I went out to eat yesterday. I had a taste for sushi, so we went to a new chinese/japanese restaurant. I do like some of the raw sushi, but since I'd never had the sushi there before, I went with "safe" choices. A hand roll with cooked shrimp, crab meat salad sushi, and shrimp "crunch rolls."

Overall very healthy, except for the crunch rolls - deep fried sushi!!! I ordered them because my husband was interested in trying them and it seemed like a good way to get him to try sushi. Luckily my husband loved it and ate his three pieces, so I was still well within points, but these things are dangerous. It was cooked shrimp, wrapped in seaweed paper and rice and then dipped in tempura batter and deep fried. They weren't greasy, but there was a lot of crunchy tempura batter, then sliced. The seaweed paper got soft and tender like cooked spinache and the rice got soft and creamy (almost like fried mashed potato). OMG, they were heavenly and oh so very bad!

But that's Wisconsin for you, take something healthy and deep fry it (Heck, then take something unhealthy and deep fry it!)

  • Kapolds....sushi like that is everywhere...it's amazingly tasty and amazingly hard to stop eating. What I have been doing has been getting sashimi and hand rolls without the rice (extra cucumber)..usually wrapped in soy paper when I can get it. I also know a few places that will wrap rolls in cucumber instead of rice.

OK..so I was away with the teens at leadership camp since Thursday afternoon. Foodiwse I did my very best. I brought my WW oatmeal cups with me and some other snacks. I would start the day with that and then for my morning snack (breakfast for everyone else) I'd have a small amount of scrambled eggs, maybe a 1-point bagel, bananas, one day I had hard boiled eggs, loads of water and FF milk. Lunches I did the best I could...veggie burgers one day and turkey cold cuts the next. Dinners were OK except for last night...spaghetti and garlic bread. So my friend (who had a car...whew) and I got permission to go into town for dinner...we found a Carrows and I had an egg beaters omelette.

All in all good stuff...but the NSV was even better. The camp is on hills and I was able to walk up and down the hills without getting winded or having to stop...even in heels and dress shoes!! Plus I played soccer with 2 of the guy staff on Friday morning for about 45 minutes...I was running all over the place and felt amazing!!!

I am totaly pooped..but I am very happy with myself and my progress. it was nice to have people see me who hadn't seen me in some time and notice how I looked.

    Someone mentioned cupcakes...try this instead:
Mix 1 can pumpkin (pure pumpkin) and 1 box spice cake mix
Pour into muffin tins (12 or 24 minis)
Bake according to directions on box
The muffins are either 4 WW pts each for the larger ones or 2 WW points each for the tiny ones. No eggs, no oil, no frosting.

Another option is to mix either 1 can vanilla cake mix with 1 can of diet 7-up or diet cream soda....OR...1 can diet dr pepper or diet coke with 1 box chocolate cake mix.

Bake according to box directions. Do not add anything else. Same points as above.

I am POOPEd and need to unpack. Jason is on the way over to take me to dinner...I have missed him!!!

WELCOME to all new newbies and returners!!!
  • Okay, I need help!

Next week, I might (not sure, it's a possibility) be going out to eat at Cheesecake Factory. I've never been, as they've always been hugely crowded and I hate waiting for a table anywhere. All I know is that their cheese cake is like 800 calories, and their carrot cake is over 1500 calories! And that their menu is huge.

So what I need is suggestions. Has anyone been there before? Do you know what, on their huge menu, is decently healthy to eat if so? Maybe they have 'healthier fare' marked on their menu. Then it's just portion size I have to worry, as I hear their meals are huge.
  • Sorry I am no help. I avoid that place because I don't trust myself there. Maybe if your wanting some cheesecake just take a bite off someone elses and that's it. I think they have a Chicken avacado sandwhich, but not sure. You can also try looking them up on the web. Maybe they have their menu listed. I have the hardest time with pies, and anything sweet that is.
    Good luck!
  • Rabidstoat -- I haven't been in years. They do have a menu online, but no nutritional info per se (I didn't look closely to see what was marked).

One thing you could try: Ask the waiter/waitress what is the most lowfat (or carb friendly or whatever) on the menu. Places will sometimes let you modify meals to make them more friendly for you -- at least, I have had some success by saying things like, "I want this dish but please no sauce on the fish and no butter on the veggies" Fill up on the main dish or salad or whatever... and then, if you want, maybe split a cheesecake? The main dishes can be filling, so if you eat, you probably won't want much! One can hope!

Julee-- GOod NSV!! I had a similar one today-- we spent well over an hour removing all the leaves and such from our lawn -- involved lots of lugging and raking and such -- and I wasn't pooped after that!! This is the least I have weighed since we owned the house and it feels good to be able to do a better job keeping up with everything...

Brenda -- Putting up the Christmas lights sounds so cheery! Hope you got it done!

    Ammi -- We miss you!
