Looking for Buddy !!

  • Hi all,
I am a full-time working mother of 5 children, all under the age of 13. I know that I can succeed in dieting but it would be nice to have some support. I have patellofemoral syndrome (runners knee) from weight lifting and really need to lose some weight. The orthopedic doctor said that losing weight would help a lot. Anyone out there in the same predicament?
  • hey!!! wow...your other thread was so long!!! I thought I'd just post here instead. How are you doing so far? I lost three pounds already and its been a week...I have also been sick for the past three days...anyway...I hope all is well!
  • April,
I don't think I have lost a pound yet. It is getting so frustrating. Because of my runners knee, and quadricep tendonitis, I am limited in what I can do for exercise. But after the first of the year, I am going to a neuromuscular massage therapist that will hopefully get me back in tip top shape so I can get in tip top shape. How are you doing?
  • OMG...I just ate a whole bowl of Banana nut ice cream!!! I am so ashamed...but it was so yummy...anyhoo...will make up for it!!!

I am sorry about your knee...I actually had an accident last year in the snow...and I twisted my knee...it hurt for a month or so...hope you get better soon!
  • Hey There Momof5

I have a suggestion for your knees...(I was a certified Personal trainer beforeI got leukemia last year...) When you are doing any kind of squat type exercise, hold a roled up towel between your knees, and make sure you don't let your knees go past your toes.

not sure if your doctor would have told you those techniques...

  • April,
We all have our moments of self indulgence, so don't feel bad. I am sure I will feel the same way Thanksgiving day when I have my apple pie ala mode....yum..yum...

    Fitgal,
Thanks for the suggestion. I went to a PT for about a month and it really didn't seem to help to my satisfaction. I have researched quadricep tendonitis and one website said that people with this type of problem probably have to have their muscles released by a neuromuscular massage therapist. I am going to try that in January.
  • Turkey Day~
