Please check my math for me....

  • I suck at math...could someone check my figures to see if I'm right?

    Weight: 310 lbs Height: 66 inches Age: 40

    Daily Activity Score: 1.1 Exercise Expenditure: 0

    My calculations say that:

    BMR = 2110.2
    AMR = 2321.22
    Weekly AMR = 16248.54

    So, in order to lose 2 lbs a week, I subtract 7000 cals from 16248.54 to get approx 9,250 calories for the week.

    Does this look right?
  • Your math is perfect I did it all from scratch and came out with all the same numbers.

    PS I love math (dork i know) so anyone else not wanting to do the math just send me the numbers
  • Yay JEN!!!
    Apparently you don't suck at math - I got the same numbers!

    For me it came out to an average of 1321 calories a day in order to lose 32 pounds a week.

    IMO it will go faster (and you will feel better) if you add exercise to it (and you can add some calories).

    Can I REALLY lose 32 lbs a week chickie?

    Okay, so how do I figure in the exercise to get extra calories? That part isn't clear to me.
  • sorry - 2 pounds - not 32....wouldn't that be handy?

    Your AMR will change when you add exercise...because your exercise expenditure won't be 0.

    Now, if I could just learn to type...
  • If you walk a half an hour a day, your exercise expenditure would be about 300. That would make your new AMR 2621.22 x 7 =18348.54 -7000 = 11348.54/7 = 1621.22 cals per day average. That's quite a difference for a half an hour walk.
  • Heck, I can do that! Sounds much more promising than only 1300 a day! Thanks Gina!
  • I'm a big fan of exercise...Jillian tells it like it is....her advice in your signature is spot on. YOU CAN TOTALLY DO THIS! We're here for ya - cheering and walking alongside!!!
  • Quote: If you walk a half an hour a day, your exercise expenditure would be about 300.

    Hi Gina - I'm curious did you get that 300 cal for 30 min walk from the book. Because I am doing 45 min of the program in Jillians book and am only registering 340 cals on my HRM.

    Again, I'm just curious not doubting your numbers
  • The table on page 57 is by weight. For 300 pounds - 1 hour of walking is 599 calories.
  • That's what I figured, but I didn't have the book handy to confirm

    THanks
