Hello all Newbie here

  • Hi! My name is Kris and I just stumbled across this board and decided it was time to make myself commit to my life style change! Plus you guys all seem so nice In the past year I have quit a job and made a decision to move from a large city to a small city, then met a wonderful man and since moved in with him into his home and into another city. I am at my highest weight ever and I am just not happy with myself anymore. While living in Atlanta my job stressed me out so much I started gaining wieght like crazy, I was at the time 175 and started gaining wieght this past year and now have gotten to 238. Living in a new city and not knowing anyone it isn't helping feeling a bit alone and far away from my family. I had been on the Atkins diet before and lost 50 pounds and kept it off for awhile, that was prior to quiting my job in atlanta. I have since joined Curves and am working out there 3 to 4 times a week. I am considering starting the South Beach Diet, I was wondering if anyone had a better suggestion of what might be a better diet.

I would love to hear any advice anyone has to offer!! Thanks

Hi Kris. Welcome to a great board. There are so many nice people here. You'll find so much support, motivation, and friends here. Plus if you want or need advice, everyone is willing to give you a hand and loan you an ear. I can relate to you on quitting a job and moving. I am living in Vermont and all my family live in Iowa. It's really hard because I haven't seen any of them in over 5 years now. Homesickness makes me so unhappy.

I wish I could give you some advice on what diet to start. I am currently doing my own thing. I don't know much about SBD. I would like to join WW but just don't have the money to do it right now. Curves would be great but we don't have one here. Bummer. I am trying to eat healthier and cut out the sweets and fats. Counting calories and exercising more. I would like to eventually join a club or something but not really sure which diet I want to do. I am also reading Dr Phil's book(again) and would like to give his sample menus a try. Sounds like I will get plenty full. Good luck and if you ever want to chat, just PM me.
