Turkey Day Is Coming

  • I found this Hungry Girl article on iVillage, and thought it was pretty useful:

    Hungry Girl: Thanksgiving Survival

I'm planning to do my first Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year! I'm a little anxious, as I've never cooked a turkey before.
  • Brine the turkey! Just google it or go to food tv's web site and search if you don't know how. It is a bit of extra effort, but it makes a big difference in taste and adds no calories (though it does up the sodium level).

I love Thanksgiving. I plan to take that day off from my diet! But even though it is an off day for me, I'll still be eating lots of healthy turkey and veggies. Win win! Ok. There will be stuffing as well. But it's only one day...

I'm rambling. Thanksgiving gets me giddy!
  • Thanks! I'll definitely try brining the turkey. Something along the lines of this?

I'm not sure what to serve. I want to offer some healthy options, but I also don't want to skip on some of the traditionally good dishes (stuffing, for example).

I don't always look foward to the holidays, but this year I am -- my son moved home and I'm good and ready for a pick-me-up and some celebration!!
