Evacuation diet

  • I evacuated my home over the weekend due to hurricane Rita. It took me 7 1/2 hours to travel to Austin with my elderly mother which is normally a 2 hour trip. I was in no position to be picky about what I ate from Wednesday afternoon until Saturday. I ate whatever kind of sandwiches were available. Lots of the resturants along the evacuation routes ran out of food. No bread is available in the stores here right now. I had packed SB cereal bars, water and diet drinks for the drive.

I stepped on the scale this morning and amazingly, I hadn't gained any weight for which I am thankful. We also have electricity, water, & phones.
Hopefully the grocery stores will be restocked today if the delivery trucks can find gasoline.
  • well i am sorry about the hours in the car but thank god your house is ok and that you have power! I am glad you didnt gain any weight I live in central florida and last year we got all the hurricanes and had no power for 2 weeks the first time and 16 days the second. Anyway I ate whatever I had available and I gained quite a few pounds during that time!!
