weekly flex points

  • okay i guess maybe i am confused on the flex plan i know you get 35 points each week as a weekly points allowance well i try not to use mine. but, my mom is doing the plan and uses all of her points in a day and then uses all 35 flex points a week and she has lost 10. ? something pounds in 2 weeks on the plan. i always feel like if i use them i'm being bad so are you supposed to use them not use them ? help me please
  • The flex points are there so you will not feel guilty if you eat something "bad" and quit the plan. Each person is different, some always eat them and lose and some lose without eating them. I tend to use them if I want to eat out, have pizza or some ice cream. If you are losing without eating them than stick with that. If you are having a platou (sp) try using them and see what happens. When you divide it out it is only about 4 extra points a day. Some people just add that on to there day. Do whatever works for you.
  • I've read that you ARE supposed to use them. I have a hard time doing it,too...I really do.
  • makes sense that youre mom uses all of her alloted points bc youre body will not let go of fat unless you feed it
i myself cannot relate to not using them.....actually i am on core and not only do i use my 35, but i actualluy go over bc there are some things i dont account for
  • Most people devide them up over the week... which is an extra 5 points a day. Most people DO eat all of there flex points each week. And they do have a good success on it like that. It is up to you though. See what works best for you. Don't feel guilty! You allowed to eat your daily points and your flex points. That is why they are there.
  • thanks guys. i think i will try using some of them and see if that helps with the weight loss i wasnt eating any of them when i was going to the meetings from january to march then i ws doing at home on my own without eating them but, always hungry so maybe i got stuck with the plateau at 189 and then got mad and started eating whatever to gain back to 195 to get mad enough to recommit to the weight loss plan maybe if i use the points it will help with hitting plateaus.
  • I think many people run into the same problem that I did. I tended to use the WPA's for junk, and not an extra piece of fruit or milk serving or something like that. I think if you're satisfied without the extra points, don't use them, if you feel deprived go ahead and use them up.

For the most part, many people find they lose better using more points. It hasn't worked that way with me, but I think my metabolism is totally screwed up and my body has just gotten used to eating so little food. I'd always eat only 18 points and never banked on the 1-2-3 plan, so now I feel like 20 points a day is a lot! I eat more than 20 on occasion, but I generally feel fairly satisfied. I think the key is getting in good wholesome food. I try and really limit the frozen meals, processed stuff and those kinds of things.
  • can yopu all show me what an average day on the plan is like for you
i was used to the 1-2-3 plan myself from before where they gave you a points range to sty in i had a terrible time getting all my pts in when it was that way and did bank pts but then never used the pts i banked. how much do you usually lose a week using all your daily pts and the 35 weekly pts i lost 3 lbs not going over but feeling so so hungry whichj im sure will slow my metabolism down whats one thing you really like when you have a sweet tooth do you have a set time every night that you dont eat anything after? thanks for all your help
  • do you all excercise anyone have trouble getting all the water in
  • Wow, lots of questions, huntersmommy

The first thing I would recommend is to try and not compare to anyone else. This weight loss stuff is confusing to say the least. There are a gazillion reasons why some lose faster than others, some are known, some are not. There just isn't any exact formula to it. Some eat every last point and lose a lot, some eat all their points and don't and vice versa.

Your stats look great! For me personally, yes I exercize 7 days a week. Always 30 minutes in the morning and 4-5 times a week a 30 minute walk in the evening. Also abs and some weight stuff throughout the week.

Water is also a part of my life now. I have 100 oz or more a day. I think it's important for health and weight loss and for me now, isn't hard to get in at all anymore, but it takes time to get to that point.

I've never followed any "rule" that says you can't eat after such and such a time. If I'm hungry at 8 at night I will be ravenous by morning, so I eat, if it's 8 or 10 or whatever time and I haven't noticed it slowing my weight loss.

I'm not much of a sweets person. I like the munchy crunchy stuff. But for the occasional sweet fix, I'll have a low fat ice cream treat or try one of the recipies like the faux frosty or the lemon cheesecake knock off, but now the fruit smoothies really hit the spot for me. Some frozen fruit mixed in yogurt or skim milk with some ice and a bit of splenda topped with ff cool or reddi whip really hits the spot and gets in my fruit and milk servings

Hope that answered some of the questions.
