Just Introducing Myself

  • Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a few quick minutes to introduce myself. My name is Amber and I am 25. I reside in Southern Cali, with my lovely husband Jason, 35, and my step-daughter Taylor, 11. I am hoping to forge new friendships and continue to lose weight while I am at it! I will briefly share my story below.

I have been overweight, pretty much all my life. I started working on my weight loss after a Dr.'s appt in June. June 7th to be exact. I weighed in at 270 lbs and I was horrified! My lovely DH and I have been trying to get pregnant since Nov. 2001 and my fertility issues are because of my weight. I knew then and there that if I was to ever have a baby, I would have to lose weight, and a lot. I went home, got on eBay and bought all three of Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Solution books and have never looked back. I absolutely LOVE his cookbook and I truly believe that book has been my saving grace. To this date, I am only 3 lbs away from my first 20 lb weight loss. I haven't felt this good in a long time and I am jazzed about loosing more! I am hoping that I can drop another 20 lbs before Christmas. I really belive I can, and I will!

I meant to add I know what you are going through with your fertility issues. I have been through those as well. Hubby and I are thinking of having another child, but not at this weight! Hopefully next year if I lose enough weight. My goal is 10 pounds a month. My first September weigh in will be on MOnday!
  • Amber,

Hi there. You sound like such a beautiful person! And I am sure you are! You have a big heart.

As I read your post... I sat here thinking... ok, I bought Dr. Phil's book as soon as it hit the news!! (I had to wait till it became available!) I read a couple of chapters and put it down. I am thinking... maybe I should read his dang book! I love his show that is for sure! (If you watch his show.. you no he is changing channels and time right? It is channel 2 (In Il. anyway) at 4 pm.)

You said you really liked Dr. Phil's cookbook. Does the recipes include the nutrition info... calories, fat, carbs, sugars etc?

I also wanted to mention the cookbook I am currently using. I have found a few yummy recipes. It is The New American Heart Associations Cookbook 7th. Edition. It is awesome!

Anyway, welcome to 3FC! I am sure you will find lots of friends here.
  • Thank You
Hi girls! Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have really enjoyed the book by Dr. Phil. His cookbook has been a real help. I know as long as I follow the guidelines set up in that book, that I will be successful, and I have been. I had done diets here and there, loosing 4 or 5 lbs and then gaining 10. 270 was the heaviest I had ever been, and being that close to the 300 mark, really scared me. I decided that I wouldn't go on a "diet", but that I would make a lifestyle change. So far, so good.

The fertility issues have really been a heartbreaker. It's been almost 4 years trying and it's a road I've traveled that I wish on no one. Hopefully, once more of the weight comes off, my body will decide that it wants to work the way it should!

Thanks again girls for the warm welcome, and I can't wait to get more aquainted with ya'll.

    Amber
