OK, chicks! Here's the plan: let's wait until after the holiday weekend, then we'll jump right in. I'll post discussion topics on weekday mornings, and we can go from there. Sound good?
One thing I will say is that I will be on vacation from Sept 10-14, then at a company meeting the 19-20, and I'm not sure how much internet access I'll have at either time. If you think it would be better to wait until I get back from the company meeting to start (so that it's not too choppy in the beginning), just let me know. Of course, you're all perfectly welcome to chat without me!

I'll go first.
Hi, my name's Elisha, and I'm a fat chick. I'm 25, and I've been overweight my entire life. Mom, Dad, both grandmas overweight, and now the boyfriend, and my brother is headed in our direction. I've been fighting back since about February of 2004, and I made it down to 197 in August of '04, but I've been headed back up ever since and nothing I do seems to help me lose again.
As for diets/eating strategies, I count calories. I aim for 1600 calories a day, but less than that is of course good. I can't seem to eat less than 1400 without being constantly hungry. I drink a ton of water, and I've recently increased my exercise (though I still don't get enough as I'd like). I'm trying to take up jogging, but it's slow going, as out of shape as I am (and the fact that it's been raining for a week hasn't helped). I have an elliptical, a stairclimber, and a weight machine that are the majority of my workouts, along with a library of aerobic videos.
Other things about me... I live in the middle of nowhere in northern West Virginia and work as a Document Specialist (copyeditor) for a business consulting firm. The boyfriend and I are in the process of buying a house, and we're planning to get married in January of 2007 (he's not a fiancé yet because I don't have a ring yet, but there IS a wedding in the future, we've agreed on that much). Currently we're living with my parents and a plethora of animals, two of which are my cats, Camilla and Maggie. And when we get our house, we're getting a dog.
Right now I'm suck at 213, and I'm planning to get down to about 160-170. I don't know exactly because I've never been that weight before (on the way up I think I was about 12 or 13, so that doesn't really count). I'd like to fit into a size 10, but it could be a 12 or an 8, doesn't really matter. I just want to be comfortable with my body and healthy enough to have kids in a few years.
