Cleaning Products/Tools

  • Does anyone have any miracle or just plain old favorite products you use to clean your home. I'm particularly interested in soap scum killers and things to get soap scum off of glass shower doors.

    All ideas welcomed!
  • Boy, I'll be waiting patiently to hear this! I have the same issues.

I have heard in the past that once you get shower tiles clean, you should put a coat of car wax on and then buff it off. It'll keep soap scum from sticking.
  • I just bought some Clean Shower - I'm hoping that'll help. Of course, you have to start with a clean shower, so it may be a while before I start using it!! Kathy, do you think that car wax is only for the walls? Because on the floor tiles it might be a little slippery? That's a good idea though.

As for miracle products, I absolutely LOVE the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It really IS magic. It gets crayon off anything - it even got permanant black marker off my table. It's also good for scuff marks and ground-in dirt too, for those of you not afflicted with crayon on every surface.

  • Another good thing is the Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower cleaner, which unfortunately isn't available here. A friend in Buffalo NY sent me one because I had heard of them ... DH loves his and it truly does keep the walls and glass clean. But we can't get refills until it's a nationwide item.

    It's this:

  • Awesome from the Dollar Store!!!!!!!! It is yellow in a see-through bottle..........it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Now me, I just use vinegar and water in a spray bottle with a little bit of orange esential oil. Works wonders. And CHEAP! Not to mention healthier than having a bunch of chemicals in the house. And you can use it to clean almost anything including carpet stains, although I'd leave out the oragne oil when doing carpets. For the really tough stuff I use straight vinegar and a little baking soda.
  • I use white vinegar and water to clean glass and mirrors. White vinegar and baking soda to clear out drains. For mold, use a paste of bleach and baking soda. Leave it on for awhile and scrub off. Works and is much safer than those commercial tile cleaners.
  • Use lemon oil liquid furniture polish to get the soap scum off your glass shower door. Should be able to get a bottle at your dollar store ( I got a big bottle at Dollar Tree).

I love my Scrubbing Bubbles! It's gotta be name brand Dow SB, though. I've tried several off brands, and they don't work anywhere as good.
