Hello everyone, my name is Sarah and I just joined. I'm really excited about starting this new chapter of my life which, hopefully, will mean a brand new beginning for me. I came here looking for friends and support and maybe some helpful hints. I need to lose about 150lbs so I am in it for the long haul. I'm taking a trip to Uruguay in March to get married and I want to look and feel my best for the trip. I want to lose as much as I can before then, but by my 25th birthday, (August 27th, 2006), I would love to be at my goal weight of 160lbs. I'm here for anyone looking for a supportive weight loss buddy, but I also need someone to keep me strong in times of weakness. I'm looking forward to making friends here.

I don't want to be a wet blanket (really I don't)...but it's going to be hard to healthfully lose 150#'s in just a year. It can be done but it's really much better for you to lose at most 1-2#'s/wk which works out to no more than 100#'s a year. Making an abrupt lifestyle change, you may start out losing 5-10#'s/wk but it will quickly slow down. I'm afraid that if you set your sights that high you may be shattered when you realize that it isn't going to happen and either start doing unhealthy things or just give up altogether.

Is there a particular reason you are getting married in Uruguay? I LOVE to travel so give me details.

Hi Sarah jus new here too today nice to meet you I sure hope you reach your goal hun.I hope lose another 41 more pounds about 6 yrs ago I weighed 316 then around January I weighed 234 now at 181 I sure hope I will continue to lose I find it so hard to stay on track lately !!!
