Goal date!

  • I know that some of you would think that a goal date would be Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson or Liam Neeson...... Well, that wouldn't be bad come to think of it............they are pretty yummy. OH, ya where was I?????

Anyway, I posted something like this on the board over a year ago and thought I would again. It helps me be motivated and recommitted. In Dr. Phil's weight loss book he talks about doing this. Anyway, figure up how much total weight you would like to loss. Then figure up 1-2 pounds a week, which is pretty safe and healthy weight loss. Get a calendar and figure out when that is. I have a little pocket calendar and each Saturday or Sunday whichever day is my official weigh in day I've written a weight at where you should be. When I do weigh on that day, I write down what my actual weight is. It's good for me to see numbers, maybe it will be helpful for some of you as well. It lets me know how close to being on track I should be.

Well, after being away from the scales this past week and eating like I shouldn't I'm recommitting myself to healthy eating and putting my goal date on my signature.

Try it, it may encourage you, just 1-2 pounds a week.
  • All right! You go, Girlie!
  • RNMom, you're too funny. Goal date...

ahem. Anyhow... yes! That's an excellent idea! It really simplifies things.
  • Good stuff!!!

According to 1 pound a week, I should be there by February 12th 2006. I am giving myself a few extra months (holidays anyone?) and aiming for June 1, 2006 -- 3 months before the wedding so I can find a dress and get fitted and such!
  • Ok Ellis
I'm glad I could offer some humor to your day.............. I know you were wanting Mel or Harrison
  • Well, based on this formula, I should lose my additional 104 pounds by........

    August 13, 2007

Sorry RN Mom, but I'm not too encouraged.....
  • Jen, don't be discouraged! The more you have to lose, the faster you lose! (assuming you stick to plan, of course. heh heh) Laurie (Beachgal) has lost over a hundred pounds, and she continued to lose at a good and steady rate. And heck, look at you, girl!! You've lost 37 pounds!!
  • good thread girls!
  • Well, so long as I stay OP, my goal date should be October 17 if I lose 2 lbs a week, or December 12 if I lose 1 lb a week.

Nobody get discouraged! I find that this site encourages me more than anything, because (as mentioned above) look at beachgal!!! Sheesh. She's someone I point out to my friend Molly who thinks that South Beach can't work because it's not about calorie counting and exercising yourself to death. (I'm all for exercising, but Molly's obsessed with it.)

And Laurie's just one person. There are a ton of people on here who have lost weight and are keeping it off, too! We all have our struggles, but we know it works!
  • wow, that's an awesome idea!!! Now I have to find a calendar and see when my goal day would be at 1 lb a week!! I'll get back to you all!!!

Jen, where would you be in August of '97 if you didn't stay on the plan?? That is how I have to think of it!!! Otherwise slow weight loss is discouraging!!!

Ok...1 pound per week should be 6/12/06...but that doesn't allow for holidays or slip ups...but I will really try to make it!!!
  • Weezle -- Oct 17th is my b-day
  • Oct 17 is my good friend's birthday, too, Jenne! Maybe we'll have to have a huge celebration that day!
