  • I really have urges for crunching on snacks.. I know that I cannot get started on nuts it will stall my loss and I cannot control myself. Does anyone have any suggestions for SBD friendly munching snacks?
    THANKS!
    TGIF!!!!
  • Sugar snap peas, grean beans, any raw veggies..they have a nice crunch!!
  • Oh, I know what you mean...I've been using low fat Triscuits w/a bit of FF cream cheese on top...crunchy and puts me in the mindset of a toasted bagel!
  • try the roasted garlic triscuits!!!
  • What phase are you in right now?

Phase 1 crunchy snacks: roasted chickpeas and raw vegetables with a little bit of hummus

  • I can't ever get my chickpeas crunchy like the ones they sell in the stores. & I don't like Wasabi, so I can't buy those...How do you guys get them crunchy?
  • Well, if you are very, very careful put them under the broiler for a few minutes, but you have to keep an eye on them and not answer the phone and have a nice long conversation with your sister and let them burn and set off the smoke alarm. The second layer were pretty crunchy, the top layer was beyond repair at that time. Charcoal anyone?
  • I tried that...still not like the ones at the store.
  • Hey, now, the ones in the store have professional drying ovens and fancy dancy equipment and additives to make them all nice and wonderfully crunchy. We have to get close and be contend with almost. Add some different spices and stuff and maybe it won't be quite as noticable...I don't really like the ones in the store because they are too crunchy and they hurt my teath...wait...what am I saying? I've never seen roasted chickpeas. Are you talking the wasabi peas? The green ones? Where do you find the roasted chickpeas? I need to know because it will save the battery on my smoke alarm...it happens a little too frequently.
  • yes, the wasabi peas..aren't they roasted chickpeas in wasabi??
  • I only know because my dh keeps a can of wasabi peas right next to the computer to snack on, and occasionally I'll nibble on 1 or 2. They are too hot for me to eat very many.

No wasabi peas are actually peas. Some are made from dried peas, others are deep fat fried. Here's a link:

If you like your snacks to have some zest or kick, then Wasabi Peas are for you. They're eaten just like peanuts (hot ones).
They start with fried green peas and then coat them with a sauce made with Wasabi Root powder that dries on the peas.

Wasabi peas can be added to salads, snack mixes or eaten by the handful. You get a wonderful burst of heat and then it goes away unlike eating hot peppers. If you like Oriental hot mustard, you'll like Wasabi peas.

Shoot, I guess this means I have to keep roasting my own chickpeas.
    Sarah
  • well, that explains why they are not the same consitency....FRIED.....too bad
  • have you tried the turkey pepperoni? it is like chips when you microwave em for about a minute!
  • I know that it isn't really crunchy, but sugarless gum helps me from snacking.
  • Dang! I adore wasabi peas - they are better than chips any day! Well, I suppose technically they still are, but no WPs for me for a while! Maybe I'll make up a wasabi dip for snowpeas and cucumber or something....
