Eggs is eggs...?

  • i was wondering if anyone knew how long hard boiled eggs can last in the refrig? im thinking of boiling the whole carton but dont want to if i will end up wasting half of them..
  • If the eggs are fresh, I keep them on hand boiled for a couple weeks. I go by the expiration date of the eggs -- for both fresh and boiled.
  • thank you for the quick reply!
  • How long do eggs last?
Keep eggs refrigerated to promote quality and safety. Raw eggs can be kept in the refrigerator for 4-5 weeks after purchase. Refrigerated hard-boiled eggs should be eaten within 7 days.

  • If you aren't sure if your eggs are fresh or not (fresh eggs), you can place it in cold tap water and if it sinks it is good, if it floats throw it out.
  • Wait til it's the date on them & THEN boil them. Easier to get them out of the shell that way.

Also, run them under cold water while you're peeling them, makes it easier. Peel while egg is still hot. Otherwise the membrane will stick.
  • Huh, I peel cooled HB eggs all the time without a problem. I do agree that "older" eggs are easier to peel than fresh ones. One trick I've learned is to use a paper towel to peel them on, then I roll them around so they are cracked all over. When I'm done, I just pick up the paper towel and thow the whole mess away - no little pieces to deal with.
