I've lost 34 pounds so far. I was at work today (I work 1 day a week) and a coworker mentioned that I look like I've lost a lot of weight, and that I look really nice. I was really excited that it's so noticable now.

Then a customer comes in who has been a customer for a long time. One of my other coworkers introduced me, because I'd never met this customer before. His comment to my coworker? "Hey, wasn't there a thin (my name) who used to work here?" I had to walk away before I started to cry. I can't believe someone would be that rude! I just wanted to scream at him that I've lost more than 30 pounds, and I realize that I need to lose more but I'm working on it and it doesn't happen in a day. Mostly, I just wanted to tell him where to go, because that's a really horrible thing to say to someone. Here I was, feeling so great about myself, and this jerk completely deflated me.

Don't let him get to you! You are doing great! I once had someone ask me when I was due..... I wanted to pop him one too! Men are very insensitive that kind of stuff, they don't even know what they are saying sometimes - I think a lot of them aren't born with the gene that censors their thoughts before they get to their mouth

OMG, that's an awful to thing to say to someone. Men just don't think about how something sounds before they speak. You should have held your head high & said "There's about to be." AND I would almost bet money that he was overweight.

Concentrate on the co-worker's comments and forget you ever saw him.

Gosh.. that is totally a MAN comment!!! I used to get confused with all the "heavier" girls that I worked with.. even ones who were obviously 50-100lbs heavier than me. That always hurt me, but I eventually learned to let it go.
I'm sorry that someone could be so rude but don't let it set you off track! You`re doing a great job!!!

I know if I were in your shoes though I would hold on to this comment and let it get me down. Don't let one jerk's rudeness get you down. Do something to get rid of the comment if you know what I mean. Whether it be a workout (punching bag would be good LOL). Or journaling or prayer or whatever you do to work through it. No one deserves to be treated so disrespectfully regardless of weight or anything else!!!!

Idiots aren't worth the grief they cause. It's impossible to remember that when something like that happens, but just remember that he doesn't count for anything. The people who know you and care about you are proud of you, and that's all that matters!

You know some people skipped the line to be a decent human being when it was being handed out.
It hard to not to let that kind of stuff get to you I know I would been crushed to but turn it into something else. Let the anger motivate you to get out there and work it a little more. Im waiting for some more comments myself ,sad to say that I exspect them. I dont like it but I know im working toward not hearing it and also telling someone to just shut up if I hear them doing it to someone else.
Its okay the comments do go away just keep your head up and dont let a idiot change anything your doing, because there are plenty of them out there.

Some people just don't THINK before they speak. Try giving him the benefit of the doubt (hard, hard, hard, I know!) and take the comment how it was probably intended. He was describing the person who has the same name as you as thin - not calling you fat. Whether or not that is true doesn't matter...taking the high road will help you let go of the feelings you have and you can move on.

In the meantime, keep up the good work. Since he's a regular customer he WILL be back - so make that jerk eat his words! Before long he'll be describing YOU as the thin (your name here)!

Not to take his side at all, but did he honestly know it was you, and just thought someone else with the same name had your position? I've had problems recognizing some people who had no weight loss change at all! (For example, in college my cousin introduced me to his girlfriend once, then the next time I saw her I introduced myself to her again, and I'm not usually bad with that sort of thing! I just didn't recognize her for some reason. She looked at me like I was an idiot, and rightfully so).

In any case, the implied comparison must have sucked. I've had strangers on the street break the news to me that I was fat, and other strangers tell me I should go to Jenny Craig (while I was out for WALKS!). It never feels good.

But just keep up what you're doing! I lost weight and at least one friend of mine who hadn't seen me in awhile walked right by me. I had to call his name to get his attention and he did a double take! He didn't recognize me then, and it was a good feeling!

Don't let any of it get to you - their problem is not your problem.

You need to lose weight because YOU have decided that you need to lose weight. You are not doing it for any body else because if you are - it wont work.

People constantly say stupid things and most dont even realize it and those that do don't deserve your tears. I am sure you are a very beautiful and sensitive person and don't you forget it!

People that know you and love you will love all of you and will give you the respect you deserve. Everyone else can kiss your ***.

But if you still feel bad about it - I would be happy to share with you some tips on revenge.
