a little frustrated!

  • ok today started 3 weeks on sbd i lost 7 pounds so far but most of the loss happened in the first few days and now i am stuck the scales is not moving at all! Has anyone else experienced this???
  • Of course. It depends on how much you have to lose, whether you've dieted before, the time of the month, the weather, etc. etc

The 8-13 pounds stated in the book is a very optimisitic estimate, IMHO.
  • ang---don't get too frustrated. Stay on plan, drink lots of water, get into phase 2, follow it up with exercise and the weight will come off!!!

My good friend and weight-loss inspiration put it in perspective for me when I started my new WOE adventure: remember, you didn't get heavy overnight! and you won't get thin that fast either!!!

    YOU CAN DO IT!
  • ang, it is a bit odd to hit a plateau so soon, though it does happen. Perhaps you've added in too many starches or fruits? Try posting a daily menu for us, okay? I started with three fruits and two starches a day when I did Phase 2 (bad call!!!) and only when I got it down to one of each did I start losing. You may have to play with these to see what happens.

Have you added exercise yet? As Jenn mentioned, it helps immensely, especially in breaking out of plateaus. If you are exercising, try a new type of workout or vary what you are doing somehow. Make sure you get your water. Change how much or when you are eating. Changes here and there can jump start you back into where you want to be.

    Good luck!
  • I feel ya! My weight loss is not going as quickly as I'd like either. I know I've been good though mostly. TOM just ended yesterday so I'm not gonna get too discouraged yet. I've noticed that sometimes of the month I just can't lose no matter what I do and then a week or so later the weight will fall off at like a pound a day. Just hang in there eventually something will give. But I do know the frustration as I'm feeling it now!! At least this diet is easy and the food is good. If we were drinking yucky chalky shakes and following some of those other gross diets and still not losing then I'd be really mad !!
  • This is all good advice, and remember, scales don't reflect the way your body looks and feels. Think about your clothing and how it fits, as well. Scales are just a number. Maybe try pictures!
  • YAY! well i finally lost 1 more pound! i only have about 10 pounds left to lose so maybe thats why i was stuck but i am so excited to see the scale move even if it is 1 pound!
  • Jenn what a good point
  • Ang- I know the "last 5-10 lbs" always seem to be the hardest so I here. I have a long ways for that but I remember before it was always those last pesky lbs that took forever. Hang in there and congrats on the 1lb recent weight loss!
