  • So I made it past week 1 with little problems! Had a good week all in all. Woke up and knew it was weigh in day so I sat there and stared and the scale for awhile and finally hopped on. I am down 7lbs since last week. I cant stop but feeling a little dissapointed bc I thought it would be more. Do most people lose more in that week?
Anyhow this week my goals are to limit PB and sf cool whip to the right amount and to workout 1x a day doing something wheather is aerobics or treadmill. Hope everyone else has had a good week!
  • Kimberly, that is awesome for one week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U go girl!
  • Kyemom- Thanks! I was thinking that was without any workouts so I guess its pretty good for a week. I am going to try this week to really work out even though I am so lazy when it comes to that. Any good motivational tricks??
  • Girl, you are a motivation to me...I have only lost 6 lbs...I am gonna start to work out this week too!!! Keep up the great work...U can do it!
  • Here's my motivational tricks:
    1. Just do it! The hardest part of any workout is the beginning. I find that if I can just get through the first few beastly minutes then I actually start to enjoy it.

    2. Make it a habit! It takes exactly three weeks to make something a habit. Do it around the same time every day- try to determine when you have the most energy (and when you can fit it into your schedule). Plan your meals so that you can maximize your own energy level.

    3. Stretch! If I take time to stretch before and really get in touch with how my body feels, and stretch out afterwards, I feel much better. It's nice! Plus, I've done yoga, and I love the way it teaches you to be in tune with yourself, and explore your body, instead of just hating it and doing things TO it, do things WITH it.

    4. Do something you enjoy. Don't force yourself to walk miles on a treadmill if you've tried it for a while and STILL hate it. Walk outside, or try aerobics, or a stationary bike! I personally would rather be outside, but on hot sticky summer days, of course I prefer a nice cool gym.

    5. Try something new! I NEVER liked running. Ever. My dad is a big runner, and I finally got the nerve to just force myself to do it. Of course I really sucked at first, and I couldn't go far at all, but gradually increasing it I got up to running 2 miles at a time with my dad, which was a HUGE accomplishment to me! We were even planning on doing a 5k before heart problems forced me to quit. The point is, I ended up loving the challenge and the way I could use my body to accomplish things that made me feel good about myself.

    6. Bribe yourself. Pick your favorite snack for the day (mine would be nuts, or a lemon pie cupcake), and plan it for the latest time possible. Tell yourself if you don't work out first, you don't get it- and follow through. Sub a less-thrilling snack if you don't finish your workout task.

    7. Reward yourself! Make a sticker chart! It sounds dorky and childish, but at the gym there was a chart for new years resolutions and I looked forward to putting a smiley face by my name every day. I've even made one at home and got myself some cute stickers so that I could see the progress- when you're feeling down, or slip up someway, all you have to do is look at the ever-growing line of stickers to assure yourself you ARE doing well! Also, you can come up with non-food related rewards- "If I stick to my exercise plan all week, I will give myself a nice hot bubble bath and pampering day. If I follow it all month, I will buy myself a nice new workout outfit (or jewelry, or shoes, or book, etc.)"

Hope this gave you some ideas!
  • That's not less than normal...it's actually a bit more. You're only supposed to lose 8-13 pounds in the first TWO weeks, so you're already ahead of the game.
  • Happy Dance
Kimberly - With 7 pounds gone in your first week you are SO definitely allowed to do the HAPPY DANCE!!

Keep up the good work, chica!

As far as exercise goes the best advice I can give from a fellow lazy arse is to just do it. Pick something you know you can do and commit to a small amount of time each day. Don't over do it at first and don't be afraid to give yourself LOTS of praise every day for whatever exercise you've done. In a few weeks you'll notice more stamina at which time you can push yourself a little further.

I've found that just posting the fact that I've exercised helps a lot, too.

    Hope that helps
  • Kyemom- 6lbs is great too!! How long have you been doing SBD? Keep up the good work!
  • Good motivations for everyone. Val keep up the good work too, I saw you had a 7lb weight loss as well!!
  • Darling- I love the sticker chart idea!! I made my husband get me all the seasons of Sex and The City and promised him I would use the treadmill and watch them. I have slacked lately but will do it! Also my sons 4 birthday is next month along with a family reunion so I am going to take myself to the spa and get my hair done and a new outfit next month. There is some of my motivation!!
  • I have been on for 2 weeks, but the 1st 4 days I was eating something that was not OP so I decided to do Phase 1 for 3 weeks. I really want to see another 4 lbs by Thursday!!!!
  • Lost five in week one. Probably lots of it is water, but I'll take it. Only "cheat" (and I HATE that term) was tortilla chips when I was out to lunch with a friend. But I knew that was coming and I planned to indulge. First three days were VERY crabby days, but it's better now.

My daily challenge seems to be lunch at work. If I can have lunch made and know what I'm having, I'm good.

The big challenge this week will be a road trip/vacation. I'll be packing SBD friendly foods, but I also know there will be indulgences. So I may tack on an extra week of phase 1.

    Colleen
  • Dad and I are going on a road trip a week from Thursday. We'll be in phase two then so we're armed with SBD cereal bars for breakfast, and of course veggie packs, nuts, string cheese, lots of water, etc. Even got some of the SBD crackers and cookies. Plan to research restaurants to figure out where we can stop along the way. There's always a fruit cup at Wendy's!
Being prepared will save us, I hope.
  • Week one down, and the crabbies and tears have finally subsided (yes, I cried in the grocery store out of frustration because I HATE veggies unless it's a potatoe). I was a bad girl on Saturday and had popcorn at the theater (no butter though!) and then some pizza (my downfall in life).

Anyway, I have lost 7lbs and commited to working out at least 3x per week, which I started today. I feel I have finally gotten into the groove of what I can and can't eat, and am excited to see what I can do for my health

Kudos to everyone on their lower scale numbers
  • Sounds like everyone is doing great! I have always had a little cheat here and there on diets but not on this one. I am so afraid to cheat and all the cravings will come back and thats the last thing I want!!
