Today's Serenity Prayer

  • Dear Lord,

Please grant me the courage to change the things I can change,
The wisdom to know the things I can't
And the strength not to STRANGLE THE PERSON WHO PUT THE GLAZED DONUTS RIGHT BY THE BLASTED OFFICE PRINTER!!!

    In Jesus Name,

    Amen.

    Somebody send me some strength!!
  • You can do it. NO donuts for you today. Make someone else do your copies if need be
  • Or better yet---move the donuts out of the line of fire!
  • Ha Ha Ha lol too funny
  • I vote for posting your prayer on the copier! Then everyone will think twice. Maybe then the donut box would stay full and after that happens a couple of times, they will stop being brought to the office...
    Just a thought...

  • Just try to imagine the greasy, grainy, icky, congealed-nasty-fat feeling coating your tongue after eating one, and the heavy, cold lump of solidity in your stomach weighing you down. And how tired and cranky you'd feel an hour or so later when the unnatural sugar high crashes you down.

Sometimes that sort of imagery really helps me with temptation. I was eyeing the donuts at the snack bar this morning when I bought my coffee and I knew I had cottage cheese and a granola bar back at my desk. Imagining the texture of the donut I was looking at as icky and repulsive really brought it home. I didn't buy the donut.
  • Now they are having birthday cake at 2:30...AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

  • Okay, I'm going to take Synger's advice a disgusting step further - imagine that cake covered with vomit! Worked for me!
  • Welll... how did you do?
  • Even with all the bag imagery, this thread just made me hungry for a chocolate donut.
  • Okay, well, I did not bad yesterday, but not good today. I didn't have the donuts or the birthday cake yesterday (I think the vomit thing may have helped that...gross!). But this morning I had a donut for breakfast. So I'm being good right now and having a grilled chicken salad with low fat honey mustard dressing for lunch!

Thanks all of ya'll for your support...only the people here understand just what a slap in the face those dang things are!

    Hugs!

    M'Chelle
  • Good for you for your resolve. If you only had one donut this morning that's not too bad. I usually want 3 or 4 if I have donuts. It's not the best way to spend your calories but you put it behind you and are eating healthy.
