Weigh in at Home 7/4-7/10

  • Hello and Happy Fourth of July to everyone in the U.S. and a belated Happy Dominion Day to our Canadian Buddies! I hope you all had a great weekend. Any special plans for today? We're going to go watch our town's parade in a little bit and then later today we're going to a bbq at a friend's. It's an annual event with all of our college friends. The menu is pretty much the same from year to year: grilled chicken, a couple of salads, chili.... so it's pretty easy for me to handle. At night we can see his town's fireworks from the front lawn. All in all a great time. We made one trip to our town's brat and beer tent this year. I had an Italian sausage, a couple of beers and some pretzels. Not too bad. And we walked there and back, so I burned up some of those calories to boot.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Carla
  • Happy Independence Day!!!

Happy July 4th to all, even if I am stuck here at work!! I will have to miss out on the fireworks this year oh well!
Today is my weigh in day, and I am happy to report another 2 pound loss!
i was really worried with last week being my birthday and all! Whew!
Everyone brought food at work today so I will have to be strong!!!

Carla, your town celebration sounds great! I wish I could see fireworks from my lawn instead of fighting traffic!

Everyone have a fun and safe 4th, talk to you later!!
  • Happy fourth of July!

We have nothing special planned today, we are going to bbq later and maybe take a walk down by the water later.

When I weighed in this am I weighed 168...down another pound
  • Rachel in Alaska - I agree with Carla - moving is totally stressful and not having the means to make good meals makes it harder. Just do the best you can with eating until you are in the new house. Being mindful of it will help and the last thing you need to do is stress yourself out even more.

KellyJo - I hope your little one is doing better. Try not to let the 0.5 pound get you down - it's so little and the scale is so fickle.

Carla - sorry about the scale last week. Busted by the doc, huh? Maybe you're trip will be like mine and he'll ease up on you. Sounds like a fun 4th!

Meg - I agree with Carla about lack of sleep - it always makes it harder for me to stay OP. If your pants feel looser, I say concentrate on that great news. It really means more than a number on the scale that can be influenced by so many things.

Rachel in FL - congratulations on a great loss! Sorry about having to work - my stepdaughter is a nurse so I know how that goes. I'm with you - I wish I could see fireworks from my lawn.

Smoo - congratulations on your great loss! Happy 4th!

Happy Independence Day to all those in the US and belated Happy Dominion Day to our Canadian friends. I'm happy to report a 1 pound loss for the past week. It's been a weekend with a lot of schoolwork (most of yesterday), fun with friends (Saturday - and I didn't do too badly foodwise even though they had "deli" for dinner), gardening (some yesterday and some today), some straightening up the house (last night) and hopefully some relaxation this afternoon! Although my back has been a bit ouchy, my workouts have been pretty good this week. I've been careful and my knees are cooperating and it has felt great to get some good workouts in again. The weather has been gorgeous here the last two days - sunny, 80ish and dry! I doubt it will last but in the meantime I've been trying to do as much schoolwork outside as possible. Lots of grilling going on here so meals have been pretty good. I can't say my snacking has been stellar but it hasn't been to bad either.

    Have a great one!

  • Hope everyone had a nice 4th of july I am going to introduce myself I am Tina and I am new here.I am on weight watchers following from home my weigh in as of today is.190.4 when I started the program I was 202.5 so I lost quite a bit all together I lost 12.1 pounds I want to be at 145 150 by the end of this year. Can't wait to get to know you all better real soon.Tina
  • Hi all.

Rachel FL - Congrats on your loss! That's terrific!

Smoo - Congrats on your loss too.

Judy - Yay for your loss! Sounds like you had a good weekend. Nice weather, too.

Tina - Welcome and congrats on a great weight loss so far.

Well, we got the rain we so badly needed yesterday. Figures it would come on a day that everyone is trying to do outdoor things. Luckily it came well after the parade. As for the cookout at our friend's - it was all fine. We stayed dry, the food was delicious, and it stopped raining long enough for the fireworks to happen. What a display. Besides the official fireworks, a few of his neighbors dropped some serious money on their own fireworks. Eating-wise I could have been better, could have been worse.

    Have a great evening.

    Carla
  • Tina - congratulations on your great loss and welcome!

Carla - Glad to hear that you all got the festivities in (including fireworks) even with the rain. I think we've got your rain for the next few days - that and a whole bunch of humidity which I just detest.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. I did a rebounder workout - short but it really got my heartrate up and eating was pretty good. I can't say that i've made that much progress in terms of not snacking in the bedroom while watching tv but I'll keep plugging away. I have an extra hour and a half clinic session with my "client" to make up for him having to leave early both sessions next week. The Reading Center where we usually have the clinic isn't open today so we are at the University Library - at least the air conditioning works here - it's not working well at the Reading Center - not a good prospect for the clinic or seminars for the rest of July and August!

    Have a great one!

  • Handing in my no weigh in pass this week. Today is weigh in for me and my scale is packed away snuggly in my garage. I had a LONG weekend filled with heavy lifting and stop offs for fast food and coffee. Ugh. I'm not even going to think about it until I go grocery shopping to get some more WW food for myself.

"I've been a bad, bad girl. I've been careless with a delicate waistline." (kind of a Fiona Apple song)lol

I hope everyone else is doing well, no worries, I'll be back on the wagon soon! I've gone too far to quit!
  • Good Morning girls...glad to hear about the weightlosses and maintains. Keep up the great work! I will be weighing in tomorrow morning....(although I weigh in EVERY day-this is one habit I CANNOT break lol) since the beginning of the month started on a friday. As for this weekend.....I didnt do so well with eating...we went to a picnic on Sun and it started out well, however all **** broke loose when I started drinking margaritas LOL Oh well, it doesnt happen much. AND I started my TOM so I can contribute that to the eating too. Eating out at a chinese restaurant is so hard when trying to stay OP. Here is to an easier weekend. I must go prepare for Hurricane Dennis (as we are in Pensacola and have no idea what will be happening ) Got laundry and packing to do. I will check in later or tomorrow. Stay OP Girls and welcome Tina!
  • Hi all.

Judy - Take heart. The rain went away again the next day and it's been pretty nice here. The highs have been in the low 80s, which I can deal with. I still have to use the AC during the day though as they have begun work on my street (water line replacement, sewer repairs, etc.) and I don't want to keep the windows open during the day and let all that dirt they're kicking up in the house. What's a rebounder workout? Is that a Pilates rebounder? Girlfriend, stop bringing that food into the bedroom. You can do it.

Rachel - I'm guessing that the lifting counteracted some of the fast food. I bet it will feel good when you have your kitchen ready to go and are able to get it stocked with food. Diet or no diet, eating out non-stop gets old fast, especially when it's fast food.

Kelly - Chinese food is one of the hardest for me to eat and stay OP. Here's hoping that Dennis steers clear of your area. I'll be thinking of you.

My scale had me up .02, so for all intents and purposes, a maintain. Given the long weekend, I'll take it. So far so good on the snacking after dinner for me this week. This afternoon I'll be off to the farmer's market to see what fruits and veggies I can get, although our market is no great shakes, really. Limited selection and the prices can be high. But it's fresh food, so I'll get what I can.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Carla
  • Rachel - Well, as Carla said, you got your strength workout in! I know you'll be so relieved to get the kitchen all set up and some good, healthy foods in the kitchen. In the meantime, try not to stress. Fast food happens and packing up your house is one of those times!

Kelly - The only time I found Chinese food easier to deal with was when I was doing the Core plan. I'd make myself some brown rice and order Chicken with Black Bean Sauce (all core according to my leader) and have that with some veggies. Right now I'm doing flex and I have tried to stay away from it because I find it so hard to stay OP. I join Carla in hoping that Dennis stays clear of your area.

Carla - Good for you for doing well on the snacking after dinner. I would count that 0.2 as a maintain too, so congratulations. Thanks for the encouragement! I've actually been doing OK tonight. I had an NO cookie with my coffee after dinner and a couple of clementines - both in the den. I've been on the computer tonight in the bedroom so my hands have been busy. I may have some popcorm and join Tony in the den for the rest of the Yankee game - I'll see. I don't know about it being connected to Pilates, but a rebounder is a mini trampoline. I don't know if you've seen any infomercial on the "Urban Rebounder" - I don't do those workouts per se (a little boring). I like it because I can do some high impact moves on it without the impact but I really get my heart rate up. I taped a Caribbean Workout rebounder workout from Fit TV and I also use it with some of my aerobics tapes that have high impact moves my knees just can't do anymore.

Classes are done for the week and I decided to take the evening off even though I have some things from today I could write up. I figure tomorrow is time enough. I have the yucky endometrial biopsy in the morning and we're supposed to get the remnants of that tropical storm so it won't be an outside day at all. I figure I'll do as much school work as I can tomorrow so I can have most of the weekend free to clean, straighten up and relax a bit. I didn't do a workout today - I gave myself the day off. I really need to get some yoga in - I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

    Have a great one!

  • Hi everyone. I am pretty new here. I was doing the 90/10 Plan but I am not thrilled with it. So I decided to dust off the old WW at Home program stuff and do it instead. It's much easier and convenient. Plus I can eat much more of a variety of foods on WW.

My weigh in is on Tuesdays. I lost 6 lbs since I started trying to loose which was June 28, 05. I may have gained a few back though because I wasn't doing it the proper way but I have learned my lesson well.

Seems like everyone did a good job over the holiday! Glad to hear it. I hope I can keep up the good work as well. I am proud of myself because I have been exercising really well and eating well now.

The only problem is.. I need more sleep! LOL!

Keep up the good work everyone!

    Lo
  • Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. It is so encouraging to know that I have a group of people going through the same thing as me. I am back on the wagon today as we went shopping last night. I had to almost fight myself not to go to mcDonalds or get a mocha. I tell you what, I love food. So I settled down at my desk with my wholesome Bran Bar and my water bottle. It's hard getting back on track!

Good job to everyone this week!
  • Hi all.

Judy - It sounds like you're doing great with the snacking! Good for you! But you weren't watching the Yankees? Are you sure you're feeling alright? :-) The rebounder that you described isn't the pilates contraption I was thinking of, but it sure does sound fun. I'd probably bounce right off of it, though. I haven't seen any infomercials for it, but then again, I hardly run across infomercials at all. Good for you for taking an evening off to relax. I hope that the biopsy isn't too yucky for you and that all turns out well, as I'm sure it well. I also hope your day isn't too water-logged, although I know we wouldn't mind some steady rain here.

Rachel - I love food too - and lots of it. No mystery how I got here. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get shopping done and get yourself re-stocked. It is hard to get back on track the first day or so. Just keep plugging along. And yay for you for not getting McD's or a mocha yesterday.

Not much new here. Ana is on a field trip to the zoo with her old school and John took the day off to go with her. I have the house to myself for a while and am enjoying the peace and quiet, but will be glad when my baby girl -and her daddy- is home. I'm not sure what the weekend holds for us. We haven't been to the music park yet this summer, so I think a trip there either tonight or Sunday will probably be in order. Other than that, we have no plans, which is rare, but nice.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend.

    Carla
