Holiday Weekend!

  • The holiday weekend is fast approaching - Canada Day for Canadians and 4th of July weekend for Americans- and there are lots of festivities going on

What are you doing to celebrate and how are you planning on coping with the food that will inevitable be involved?
  • well...I'm not doing much celebrating. I'm going to be busy running errands and unpacking from my parent's move last weekend.

as for food...I'm going to sit my parents down and explain to them how WW works and what I can and cannot eat! It's no good when dad has fresh baked bread when I come home from work, because I'll eat the entire loaf!

I'm going to try to fit in some walking at the track too over the weekend, after I get my new walking shoes on Saturday.
  • great plan dakota!

i myself dont think im doing much either besides some swimming and this weekend wont be any worse than it normally is bc i pretty much take weekends off anyway.
  • I'm hosting a BBQ on Canada Day

I am planning on serving up lean burgers, ww friendly pasta salad and potato salad, corn on the cob, a veggie platter with low fat dip and a fruit platter with low fat yogurt dip, and for dessert the famous "diet cola cake" -just don't tell anyone it's good for them

This way I can have fun and still stay on track
  • We're having family over for Canada Day. Lean burgers (I buy PC blue menu lean burgers...they're not wimpy and only 4 points for the meat), whole grain buns, vegetable platter with LF dip, lots of fruit, angel food cake with strawberries and cool whip for dessert.
  • Yum Mauv - I'm coming OVER!!!!!

Glad this topic came up......we are going to my husbands Aunts - and they will break out all the good homemade and NOT GOOD FOR ME grub!

I have to admit, I am nervous! They will have lots of BBQ - so i'll focus on chicken and even if I have to go out and get a salad - so help me I am not going to waste all the hard work for a holiday weekend!

I have my WW meeting on Tuesday at 12Noon - normally it's monday's but I am FOR SURE going on Tuesday, so that might keep me honest!

I am going to take a couple of WW bars too - just to have on hand when the desserts come out!

I am just not at a point in my process (I committed to weight loss on May 30, then started WW a couple weeks ago) that I feel that I can 'fudge'.

    Anyone relate to that?

    .........M
  • CAtoTX - stick to it girl! You can do it! Can you make a big salad to share with everyone? That's what I usually do when I am going to a BBQ. That way you know for sure you can have some fresh salad as a side with your burger or chicken.

It's also my birthday on July 2 so the bbq is also my birthday party- I have budgeted for two drinks and 1 slice of birthday cake!
  • We will likely BBQ. I stick to lean steaks. I cut back to 1/2 a baked potato and stay away from all the fattening salads etc. My family loves green beans and mushrooms sauteed with olive oil and garlic so try to eat those also

I am hoping the weather stays nice so I can get out and Walk Walk Walk

That seems to be helping alot

Happy Canada Day and 4th of July to everyone
    Cindy
  • I am not going to any parties, but I would like to make something edible (in terms of points) for dessert. Anyone have any ideas for Canada day that do not involve strawberries? Was disappointed to see Kraft only has one recipe with a leaf on it.
