Has anyone tried those assembly line dinner places?

  • There's one here in Salt Lake where they have menus all prepared and you just go in and put the meals together, store them in your freezer, and bake in oven the day you want to eat them.

I'm just worried about TASTE. Has anyone ever tried these places? My husband and I are eternally eating fast food, so it seems like a much better idea than that, but... taste...

    Thanks!
  • Shalia: I'm just north of you in Bountiful, I've seen ads for the same place (there's one in Davis County too). I've been curious, but when I checked into the menus, they didn't do well with my low-carb lifestyle.

They are based on the once-a-month-cooking approach which include a lot of casserole type foods. I haven't eaten the ones you're referring to, but typically casseroles freeze and re-heat well.

I'll be curious to see responses too.
  • Well, I took the plunge and I'm going to try it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes and how it tastes.

They told me you can double up on recipes if there are others you just aren't interested in, so if there *are* low carb ones... but I don't remember seeing much of a selection of low carb no matter what. Well, I'll let you know what it tastes like. I figured it's not much to lose. I'd have spent $109 by Wed in fast food.
  • Have fun Shalia. I'll be interested in what you think.
  • Shalia, I have never heard of these. Is it a national chain? Would it have a website?

I think it sounds like a fabulous idea!
