Variety may be the spice of life, but it may also sabotage your diet.
A new study shows that reducing variety in the diet may help people lose weight and keep it off for good.
Researchers found that people who have successfully maintained major weight loss for several years ate less of a variety of foods within each food group than those who have recently lost weight.
They say the results show that reducing the number of different foods, especially fatty ones, may aid in long-term weight loss maintenance.
I know I've heard a lot of you say you eat the same things over and over. I try to get variety in my diet to keep me interested, and to rotate in different trace nutrients in veggies and other foods. But in reality, I do tend to eat more or less the same things over and over, and when I eat something 'new' it tends to be something like chocolate cake, which I could live without from a maintenance perspective. Variety may be the spice of life, but it may also sabotage your diet.

How much variety do you guys get in your diet as you maintain? Does same ol' same ol' help you stay on track or do you need new/different foods to keep you interested?

I've got staples and I stick to them... Like my breakfast rarely changes and when I do change it on weekends my day starts off on the wrong foot...
). Even when I eat out, unless it's a special occasion or a restaurant that is particularly known for a special dish, I'll stick to my staples. My one rule is that I NEVER order chicken in a restaurant
What a surprise
