weight verses height

  • Hi, I was just wondering with weight and heighth in thought - what is everone's
    before/current/goal and height

    I hope this makes sense.

I am 5'1 and 1/2. I haven't been below 150 since before high school. How will I ever get down to ww's goal for me?

I would love to be 125 but I don't see it happening. I am apple shaped and my stats as of today are
    first ww start 236.8 11/2000
    2nd ww start 213.4 3/25/05
    current 199.4
  • I think it is important to have realistic goals

I am 5'7 and I am currently at 171lbs. I weighed 135lbs at one point and looked to skinny (in my opinion anyway) and managed to stay at 140lbs for several years.

Factoring my age, metabolism changes and lifestyle changes from when I was in my late teens/early 20's I know that it I will never weigh 140lbs again and that would not be a healthy and maintainable weight for me.

My goal is to weigh between 155 and 160. And my doctor told me that this would be a healthy weight for me to be at.
  • Hi Imachocaholic2: I'm short like you at 5'2" and have set my goal for 118 lbs. My advice is to take it slowly. If you're looking at a long term goal, it can become frustrating. I'm assuming that's why WW sets a 10% goal to start. Talk with your leader about setting realistic goals.

Anyway, my starting WW weight (according to WW weigh-in) is 142.5 lbs. At home it is more like 140 lbs. and I'm now at 136 lbs.
I'd like to weigh 110 lbs, but I'm realistic that this may be too low.

Also, I find that viewing other success stories when their height difference from mine is so (i.e. 5'2"-me vs. 5'7") big doesn't help. I like to view successes that are more similar to mine (not to compare) but to have a general idea of what could work. Keep in mind that everyone is different.

    Hope that helps,
    Sophie2B
  • Thats for the replies chicks!

I just think it stinks being so short. Others can look skinny at 140 lbs because of their height but I have to be down to the size of a middle schooler. haha
  • Carry on?
I am 5'7", and I weigh 150-152, I want to weigh 135-140. Many people tell me that I shouldn't worry about my weight because "I'm tall" and I "carry it well"...it's not luggage! I shouldn't have to "carry it".
I am really not sure if my goal is accurate. I used to weigh 140 and wore a size 6 about three yrs ago, adn I"m trying to get that back. I am 26.

When I went to WW for meetings, I was never given a goal weight, I was allowed to pick my own, so I'm not sure about it.
Currently, I"m no where near it, so It's not a huge concern for me now.
  • You have to find a weight that feels good for you. If you get down to 150 and you just can't budge any lower then go to your doctor and discuss it with them.
I also believe you have to take it in increments. It is just too daunting if you try to look at the whole picture. Focus on 10# segments or whatever works for you. It is surprising how much easier it seems as time goes on.

My goal weight was 133 the last I completed WW and achieved lifetime 11 yrs ago. I am going to revaluate my goal as I get closer to it. I want to find a weight where it will not be a constant struggle to stay there.
