Hello Everyone!

  • Hi Everyone!

I am a newby! and I am looking forward to becoming a thin newby. I have decided to commit to the Low Carb diet. Last year I went on some medication and lost 60 pounds, over the winter I managed to gain almost all of it back, I am not taking the medication anymore, I have read to many bad things about it.

I look forward to any information and tips you might have to send my way.

    Bye for now

  • Hi Sherri, welcome to 3FC's. There are lots of ppl here that give great advice. I'm sure you'll find all the support you're looking for here. Is there any particular diet plan that you are going to follow? I'm currently doing South Beach and seeing great results with it....hubby is doing Atkins and he's seeing good results also. Best of Luck with the plan you choose!
  • Hi Sherri!

I'm curious what kind of medication were you on? You're going low carb huh, I think there are some merits to that approach. One thing I learned from studying low carb diets is what high glycemic index carbs do to my blood sugar and how they make me feel -- which is very hungry. I don't strictly limit my carbs but I do try to avoid highly processed high glycemic index/load carbs which means favoring whole grain bread and rice. Ultimately I'm a believer in the simple calories in versus calories out method of weight loss, but opinions do vary on the subject!

  • Hi Spud:
I was on meridia, it worked well until my blood pressure starting going up. It is expensive and I am not sure how good it is for your body. Its like anything, once you stop it will come back on unless you change your entire life style. Thats the approach I am taking this time.

Thanks for the advise and keep it coming.
    Cheers
  • Hi Jenn:
I am just starting the Atkins Diet, how is South Beach different from Atkins? So far its been good, I have to weigh myself at work tonight, that should be scary! How long have you been on your diet? I am wondering how much I can except to lose in a week. I look forward to hearing from you.
