Anyone tried "Frying Cheese"?

  • I've never seen this, but it was at Wal Mart in the deli meats and cheeses case (not with the Kraft, lunchmeat etc.) It is a semi-soft cheese with only 6 grams of fat. It says it's made esp. for frying... I guess meaning it won't seperate and melt everywhere. It looks similar to some Mexican cheeses. I bought it but haven't tried it. I'll let you know if it's any good!
  • Oh, my gosh! I thought you were going to tell us you were deep frying your cheese!
Yes, let us know how it is!
  • when they say frying, they mean pan fried. No oil added, just the cheese!

Yes, I would say that deep fried cheese is not On Plan!
  • Christy, I wonder if it's the type of cheese meant for a Raclette (ack...I'm misspelling this horribly...Sil, help!). It's a Scandanavian dish--you melt cheese under heat and then eat it.

Interesting stuff, Christy. Would it burn on the edges that touch the pan?
  • This stuff is great if you don't have portion control issues...LOL...way too tasty for me! As much as in the package is as much as I'd like to eat
  • Sounds good to me! I'll have to look for next time I'm in my Super Wal-mart store. I love cheese...
  • I'm going to try again and make sure the pan is heated up all the way first. It didn't crisp and turn golden brown like it said. It was like "squeaky cheese" (cheese curds) Taste was a little bland - I was hoping it could be used like chips.
  • Keep trying....I was at Wal-Mart and looked in the wrong area. Need to remember..next time to go where the deli cheese is. I have seen it done on TV made like a crisp chip. I think it was the Food Channel. I think??
