  • What a weekend! I had to come to work to rest!

DH and I did the 2-mile run. He had a great run timewise, but did not place. I did all right; I'm just a beginner, so just finishing was enough for me. The weather was perfect. Our shows went well, although audience sizes were not that great. They loved the show. After the show on Sunday we went to a really good Thai restaurant. I know it wasn't smart pointwise, but it sure tasted good.

The Derby Party was fun. How about Giacomo? No one expected that one.

WI is tonight. I'm hoping for some loss, especially after the scale fiasco last month. We'll see.

How's everyone else? I know that Melissa is on her way to my state.
  • Good morning! Last day of work and it's crazy. The boss decided to come in this morning and I had figured on getting all this stuff done I'm not getting anywhere because he keeps coming out of the office asking questions...aaahhh! Anyway, I started to pull stuff out and I need to pack tonight because tomorrow a.m. I have to take DH for a early morning (7 a.m.) appointment for some tests. Can it get any crazier????

I had a good weekend for the most part--Saturday was not good in terms of eating and yesterday I did better. I'm hoping to get a WI before I leave tomorrow so I know where I'm at. We'll see how things go.

My plane leaves tomorrow at 4:40 p.m. and I'll be in FL by 9:30...can't wait to see my girlfriend! I'll try and post more later on.

Lisa: Congrats on finishing the run!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
  • Hi all!

I had a very tired weekend. Didn't really do anything, but am whomped.

Lisa -- wow on the run. Good on ya! I had no idea who was running in the derby, but since giacomo is jacques in italian, I would have bet on him, 50:1 or 2:1. I like dark horses.

Melissa -- you will get it all done, its a good thing you are taking DH in early. The later in the day appointments run late, so you'll make your plane in no time.

Okay, must get organized. Was reminded on Friday afternoon about one hour seminar this Thursday. Yoikes. Good thing we have stuff to present. One hour is long.

Didn't do too well in the eating department, weekdays with structure are better for me, but did exercise and that is good.

    more later,

    lala
  • Melissa, I thought you had already gone. Well, you must be excited. Agree with lala that morning appointments are always better.

lala, yes, for some reason, I also eat more on the weekends. Do you need to present the entire seminar or is it a team effort? An hour is a long time to talk.
  • Add me to the list of those who struggle with weekend eating--no structure = eating! Anyway, I'm off until next Tuesday and won't have access to a computer so I'll catch up with everyone when I get back. Have a great week!
  • Melissa, have a great trip. Can't wait to hear about it when you return.

Well, WI was good--down 4.5#; however, remember last month the problem with the scale?? It's still a decrease even with that.

    Hi, lala, Pam and Susan.
  • Way to go Lisa on a great loss! I knew there was something wrong with those scales. A belated bon voyage to Melissa. An hour is way too long to talk and also to listen lala. Maybe a 45 minute Q&A session is in order??

Weekends are my downfall too, along with Monday-Friday Seriously, I weighed myself this am and, well, I have no words to express my shock with the number on the scale. I have asked DH to help me out by hiding any sweets or junk food he buys from now on. He can have it if he wants to, just don't make me stare it in the face every day.

I'm going out for a run with my sister tonight, and with some of my half-marathon group tomorrow nite. I have officially dropped down to the 10km group for the upcoming race on May 22nd. Just didn't get enough training in for 21.2 km. Maybe next year.

    Hi to Pam.
  • Hi to Susan! I agree on the sweets, tell DH to take that schtuff to work, limit that kind of eating to one place, not your house. I do that with DP, the stuff she buys on the weekend goes down to school with her on the weekdays where it gets consumed by the hoardes of hungry grad. students.

I think my skirt is tighter today, though I'm doing pretty well. I am trying to get more water in which is hard for me. I'll try today though. I weigh in tomorrow and hopefully will see a tiny loss.

    Lisa -- great weigh in.

Melissa-- hope you stocked up on some people, us weekly and oprah's for the plane. Snacks too.

Okay, back to work, I have a meeting that I need to prep for and still working on that powerpoint. I think we're really aiming for 40 minutes (30 slides and 10 min demo)...

These folks will be snoozing I'm sure because its an application of technology to science, not science. They want science. The nerds.

    lala
  • The darn junk food is just that and I don't like having it around the house.

Susan, I'm glad you're still running. I'm running a little every other block.

lala, sorry about that tight skirt. Some days clothes fit like that. What will the demo demo?
  • demo of a software application, very exciting --for some.

    not.

oops, need to make a view graph with software that is not on my machine!

    lala
  • Hi Ladies,

It's sunny and warm today I'm so happy. The lawn guy came this morning and did a spring clean up, put down some grass seed and remulched. I can't wait to go home and check it out. Not much on the agenda for today. Lauren has dance class tonight. Their getting ready for the big recital on June 17th and 18th. Tonight I'm sure we'll be watching the Gilmore Girls (only one more new episode this season!).

Susan have a nice run tonight with your sister. Good idea to drop down to the 10k, why risk injuring yourself by pushing it. we no longer have junk food in the house. I don't need it and DH certainly doesn't. Lauren has never been much of a junk food eater. Of course the office I work in is loaded with all kinds of food ( I work for a supermarket chain!)

Lisa that was a very impressive loss. Congratulations! I watched the Derby on Sunday and Giamcomo was quite a surprise. I read he was named after Stings (The Police) son.

Lala Hope your powerpoint presentation went well. My pants are feeling a little tight today. I think its just a PMS thing..I weigh in every Friday so we'll see...I've been trying to be good but I've got to increase the water intake also. Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow.

Melissa have a nice vacation. See you next week.

Well ladies I'm off to pick up my car at the garage, nothing major (I hope) just a tune up. Will talk to you tomorrow.
  • Hi everyone or good night....

Back from book club where I did not eat anything except for a few grapes. I am soo proud of myself.

Pam -- good luck with the recitals. Is it ballet? I love dance recitals. I'm hoping you came home to an amazingly kempt lawn. I could get used to someone mowing weekly or even bimonthly around here. That is money well spent if I don't have to kill myself with the lawnmower.

Okay, I'm freaking out a bit. My classmate with whom I presenting a case with for our planning class has not gotten back to me on whether or not she made the boards with our plans and photos. I am hoping she did, I guess I just am the type to er, send an email with what I did...

Presentation is not until Thursday afternoon. I refuse to let my boss see it and managerize it. Its about our work, not hers.

If you are really excited to see it, I'll send you the url for my talks page. Its quite exciting. Lots of very interesting and dry talks about mapping and data.

    lala
  • It's beautiful here, so I know that Melissa is also having good weather. Well, last night I was in bed at 8:30 (second night in a row). Maybe my body's trying to tell me something. I was in a real funk, too, and DH kept asking me if he had done something wrong. The more I said "no" the more upset he seemed to get. I think men don't understand being blue. I feel a little better today.

Pam, glad to hear from you. Yes, TOM always adds on the pounds. That's great that Lauren dances. Is it ballet, jazz, tap? I also think it's great that she does not like junk food. I'm finding that many young people do not like it and eat healthier. That bodes well for the future.

lala, I would love to see some of what you work on. My company is also involved in mapping, not sure if it's the same type, but we've done stuff for weather satellites (GOES) and the former NIMA (can't remember their current name).

What book did you discuss? I'm looking for a new book to read. Right now I'm reading "The Inner Voice" by Renee Fleming, the opera singer. It's quite interesting since I'm a singer.

Question for all: I don't have any problem getting my water in, but I've talked to folks about water and some really have a hard time drinking it. I wonder why that is? What are your opinions.
  • Lisa: I love water - it's my favourite beverage. The only problem I have is remembering to drink it regularly throughout the day. Regarding your funk, you are doing the right thing. Our instructor for the half-marathon last year had a mantra - listen to your body. Nice to hear you're feeling a little better today.

Pam: How did the lawn turn out? It's a great time of year. I'm watching mystery plants grow in my front yard. They are the result of bulbs I purchased and planted last fall. I forgot to save the insert with the names of the different varieties, so we're all guessing as to what they might be. Good to hear Lauren doesn't like junk food. I wish I could say the same.

lala: No offense, but my eyes glaze over with talk of data and mapping. I am so thankful that we all have different interests and talents. The world would not want me working on mapping

Hi Melissa. Hope you're having a great time with your GF.

I had an on-program day yesterday, including exercise, vitamin and water. Yeah!!! Another run planned for tonite.
  • Susan, congrats for being OP yesterday. Keep it going!!
