Holy lengthy posts, Batman (as if I should talk...

)! I knew I should have posted earlier when there were only two posts...but I got distracted.
Ruth, a porch
and a deck? You decadent girl! I must come for visit! I love the way you describe the goldfinches. They sound amazing!

Our daffies are starting to die off, but the tulips aren't quite up yet, as it's hovering around 30's/40's here and lots of hail. Yuck!

Don't feel bad about the X-Mas lights...we have a Christmas wreath up on our chimney...it's still there!
Hey,
Bamie! You poor girl! I'm sorry about the sinuses. My right side is my trouble side too. I've had several surgeries and lots of work done on them, but they still trouble me. I've found some great remedies that ease the problem: Neti pots (or other irrigation systems), saline spray (especially one called "Simply Saline"), and drinking hot mugs of tea...make it as hot as you can stand, and hold it against the roof of your mouth with your tongue for as long as you can. It seems to "melt" the junk and send it running out of there.

Nasty, but if it works...

Don't hesitate to see the doc if it doesn't get better soon...those things can really be trouble if you wait too long to hit them with antibiotics and such.

Two sickos on the beach...we better ask the cabana boys to stock beach blankets, flasks of whisky, and a humidifier!
Tara, your kids sound wonderful!

How fun! I'm so glad they are enjoying their activties.

I know you can do this, girl, and we're all here to support you through it. Just keep making foods you enjoy in Phase 1, and take it one step at a time, okay? Think about how much you want to be in good health for a long time so you can see those darling babies' babies one day!
Sassy, I'm so glad that helped!

It helped me too...this morning I almost waited to start breakfast until I got some things done, but I thought, No...need to eat it now so there's time for a snack.

Thank
you! I know what you mean about veggies. I took it really slowly as I was a confirmed veggie hater. I wouldn't touch cauliflower in any form with 20 foot pole!

Eventually, I tried the mashed cauli at a restaurant. Then I made my own. I tried it in a casserole with tons of cheese and yummy things. Then I tried it just with cheese. Eventually I got to the point where I could eat it just with smart balance or with curry powder. A miracle, I tell you, but it took about 6 months! For a while, I was literally holding my nose while I ate my veggies!

But now I really have come to like them. I honestly think that my tastebuds were completely out of whack from all the sugar and that made veggies taste bad. Now I actually find many of them sweet!

In the summer, I love cold veggie salads. There are tons of them out there...just look around. 3 Bean salad and Broccoli, Cheese, and Bacon salad come to mind (both in the recipe forums). I also saw a carrot and raisin salad made with Splenda in the "Fabulous Foods made with Splenda" cookbook. If you can stomach tons of green salads, do it, just add things like broccoli, cabbage, green beans, pepeprs, onions, tomatoes, carrots (Phase 2), edamame, radishes, mushrooms, etc. You can do this, girl!
Christy, you can always send a PM to Jenn, or open a new thread if there's something specific you want to talk about. I'm so glad to see you in the daily!

Your revelation sounds great, and I agree with you about our bodies loving it when we eat right.

: It's such a great feeling!
Ellis, you poor girl! I'm so sorry that you're still feeling sick.

I believe in female intuition, especially regarding our bodies...and I think that we often ignore that intuition, telling ourselves that we are hypochondriacs, etc. Call your doctor and go see him/her just to be sure, okay?

Pneumonia is nothing to mess with! Your post made me laugh quite a bit.

You ought to be a humor writer, girl.
I love all your work with the scouts,
Barb!

I think it can be such a positive experience for boys, even though their views on gays really make me sad.

I was wearing my girl scout t-shirt at the gym this morning and it made me smile and miss working with the girls.

I think it's great that Brian is going to volunteer at the animal shelter! I must say though, that my one experience volunteering made me really want to take about five animals home!

Hope he has a blast!

Sorry about that brownie, but congrats on the weight loss and on your willpower staying away from the pan in the break room!

I think stopping a binge is much harder than keeping from one...I always crack once I have even a little taste of something. You are much stronger!
Phins, don't you just love water aerobics?

I think it is so much fun! I hate super warm water, especially since it warms up a lot as you work out, but getting in cold at first is a shock, isn't it?

Hope your back feels better soon! I loved what you wrote here:
Quote:
...could care less about the other results, cuz I know that I am doing what I need to be doing to fix them all!
So true! You can do this girl...you are already in the right direction...just keep heading that way, full sail ahead!
Amy, I love your boy stories too!

I think it's great that you say no...I still believe that a guy that's worth waiting for won't mind waiting.

My guy did, and it was worth the wait! (
did I say that out loud?
) I know you'll get that exercising done...just keep at it, okay? I know what you mean about your abs...but they are the easiest muscle to strengthen...they'll come around.
Me:
Well, I gained a pound this morning.

I think it's because I ate dinner around 9:30 last night. Couldn't be helped, as I had class until 9:10. Hopefully I'll see some reduction after today (day 3 of Phase 1, and lots of exercise). It's only 12 and I'm out of water. Not going home until 1, so I'm going to be plenty thirsty by then...
Wrapped a bunch of stuff last night to send out...gift for my mother-in-law, baby gifts for my aunt-in-law's newest, little treats for my grandmother, and sending a bunch of bras I can't wear anymore to my mom. I'll need to run by the post office at lunch to mail them.
Weather is cold here, but as long as it doesn't hail, I'm okay (can you tell that my expectations have been lowered?

). I have balance ball class tonight and I did 20 minutes on the elliptical this morning.
Have a great day, chickies!!!
