My mom has been going tanning and she is always really itchy afterwards, and it lasts all day or longer, and she says she is especially itchy on her stretch marks and her bum....anyone know why this happens!?? Thanks.
I used to go tanning when I was younger and had the bod for it! I would get itchy, too, and aloe gel would help a LOT. It cools things off. The place she tans at should have a line of products that includes after tanning gels/lotions.
I don't have an itchy problem. But was wondering, I do sweat a lot in the tanning beds. Does she towel off afterwards? When sweat dries, it can make one itchy. Also, the lotion suggestion might be what she needs. I've always used the Skin lotion that my salon sells after tanning.
I agree with being sweaty and getting itchy.
I enjoy tanning, and living in Toronto ... sometimes it's the only way to look a little healthy during the winter.
I always shower after tanning. I like to use a moisturizing shower gel and always use a loofa to keep my skin exfoliated.
I buy my loofas from a dollar store and I find it helps.
And, I put baby oil on my skin after my shower while my skin is still wet.
Hope you find some relief.

I am tanning now and am just getting over the itches. My first few days are awful, I think it is a change to your skin. I have started to moisturize right afterward and I cut my nails-because the most you itch, the more intense it gets. Usually as you build up your tan and time in the bed, it gets better...
My good friend owns a tanning salon. I asked her. Basically what everyone said. It could just be that tanning does sometimes dry your skin out, so the moisturizer will help TONS. Also, using coca butter after really helps, or if she uses a tanning lotion use one with a moisterizer or coca butter.
Besides keeping your skin healthy and having plenty of moisture in it. She also said it could just be the chemical that is used to clean the bed. Not to many people ever think of that, but it does sometimes make folks itch.
