Craving a hamburger

  • I needed a burger bad yesterday.... After Orchestra yesterday, it took all my will power not to stop at Wendy's and grab a #1 combo with fries and a coke.

I kept driving and cooked this at home for phase 1:
very lean hamburger with a small amount of blue cheese in the center. I then sauteed onions and that angel hair cabbage to eat with it.

It was really good and satisfied the craving. I had the burger and something a little crunchy to go with it.

  • Yeah!!!!! You did so good! There's nothing saying that you won't have cravings, it's all in how you handle them. I'm proud of you!!!! Great job!!!!

  • Yum! I think I'll go defrost some ground beef now! Congrats on avoiding the pitfall!

    What's angel hair cabbage?
  • It's cabbage cut extremely thin. I do it on my mandoline. I know you can buy it in some stores in the USA but have never seen it here.
  • Amy, we do that with the burgers, too! It's so yummy! We also saute mushrooms, and use light cream cheese.
  • That sounds divine! I know what I'm making for dinner tonight Thanks a bunch!
  • Speaking of fast food cravings....

I have to say, I used to be a fast food fiend. Had it every day for lunch since we have about 4 fast food joints just down the road from the college. When I started SBD, it killed me to drive past those places and not stop for some cheese fries or a quarter pounder, but then it occurred to me that if I didn't keep the cash on me, I COULDN'T stop there even if I wanted to.

If I absolutely need to buy something, I go somewhere that I can use my debit card, but otherwise, I rarely carry cash, and I always bring my lunch. And that's how I kicked my fast food habit....
  • Great idea Fuzzy!

Amy, I'm so proud of you!!!

That was great work!!! I'm sure you are more proud of yourself than any of us could ever be. It feels so good to know that you treasure yourself enough not to put that stuff in your body!!! :

Good for you...and thanks for being a great rolemodel. Plus, that cabbage recipe sounds amazing!!!

kpw, I get Angel Hair Cabbage at the supermarket...It's prepacked by Dole. It works great in place of shredded lettuce...not only does it stay crispy longer in packed sandwiches or wraps, but it has way more nutrients!
