  • saskie - I'm not from Canada, but close. Born in Fargo, North Dakota, grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota & now live near Madison, Wisconsin. I just slowly keep moving south - at this rate, I figure I'll be in Florida or Texas by the time I'm 85!

  • kt re: dinner:

When DH is in charge of dinner, does he
make it or does he buy it?

    Enquiring minds want to know?

We are in the process of eating down our
fridge in anticipation of being out of town
for 5 weeks. After we return its new stuff in the fridge and the one day off, one day on policy in terms of cooking. So, I'm curious to see how sharing the load works.

  • lala -re: DH & dinner question. We RARELY eat out, so DH makes something from home (or we stop at the grocery store if we're short on an ingredient).

I seem to make almost all the evening meals - DH does the "manly" gas grilling, so in the spring/summer/fall, he does end up doing more of his share. In his defense, I get home from work earlier, so it's easier for me to get supper started, plus since I rejoined WW over a year ago, it gives me more control of what I eat. He has a tendency to fix the meat & potatoes part, but forgets to round out the meal with veggies. It works out most of the time, but sometimes I feel more pressure (self-induced, of course!) to always have a semi-decent semi-home cooked meal for supper most nights.

We also don't go out much because DD is VERY active & we seem to rush through meals because she gets so antsy. Hard to enjoy a meal & pay for it when you feel like you're shoveling it in because DD is having a fit!

Do you eat out alot (or get take-out?) We live in a small town (about 6,000 people), so not many choices in restaurant food.

    Sorry so long-winded....

We live in Seattle, a large burgeoning metropolis of moderately fine restaurants, but we rarely eat out in town or have take out. We travel alot, so its either tri color pasta and over cooked airplane chicken or
    eating out wherever we are.

I'm not a good meal planner, so we spend alot of the early afternoon playing "what do you want for dinner?" via email or the phone. I want to know at least a day or two before so I can plan ahead (take out chicken to thaw, instead of buying fresh chicken, etc...)

Grilling, now that is the sport of kings .

I'll leave the grill alone and make side dishes any day.

    Thanks for your reply.
