Do some on-plan foods not work for you?

  • Hello - Day, um, 5 here! LOL, had to count

I've been doing well and pretty happy about my meals and subsequent losses. Last night we had refried beans - less than two grams sugar, only 2 grams fat, no wheat etc. I figured it was fine since they were pinto beans. DH was happy because he's been missing something more starchy with dinner. This morning I'm up .5 lbs and my feet feel swollen and puffy. I'm sure I'm retaining water. I drank almost 80 oz yesterday, my norm. I also added the SF fudgesicle last night - I doubt that caused it.

Do you think I'm more senstitive to the carbs and shouldn't add beans yet? Or was it just I had a higher salt content yesterday?

I know we shouldn't weigh everyday - but today was going to be my regular weigh in day anyway. It's just that I can FEEL the difference, I haven't woken up with my feet puffy since I started the plan.

    Thanks in Advance
  • If they were canned refried beans then it might be from all of the sodium that is is canned foods. Just a guess.
  • I find that I have the same type of reaction with weight if I eat anything that has sugar in it. One of the things that I have been really conscious of with this diet is to eliminate all the 'hidden' sugars in foods. If the can says that there is any type of sugar - glucose, honey, molasses, sugar alcohols, etc. - even if it is within the limit for SBD, I don't buy the product and search for one that does not contain the sugar.

If the product doesn't exist, I make my own. I think it one of the things that has really helped me to lose excess weight and maintain my current weight.
  • Ingredients were: Pinto Beans, Water, Vinegar, Spices etc. and less than 2% lard (ok, that may have been it!) No sugar, no wheat fillers etc.

I'll either mash my own beans or look for "natural" refried beans.

Thanks - I'm still going though!!!
  • I agree canned foods do have alot of sodium, just drink extra water might do the trick. Hugs BB
