my fun story from today...not weight loss related

  • Ok, this is just so cool I had to share it with my 3FC girls...it's totally unrelated to weight loss but it really made my day today...so here's the story.

So, I'm in my room entering in my data for some of my calls, when I am perturbed by the fact that people seem to keep slowing down in front of my house. At first I chose to ignore it, because I'm used to people slowing down and taking pictures of my house (don't ask). So finally I go and peak out my window, and I'm astounded by what I saw. I live across the street from a huge cornfield...right now it's pretty bare as they're getting ready for their summer crop. It's a beautiful view of the mountains, too. So I look out and see a MOOSE just STANDING there, about ten yards from my window, right across the street. People were slowing down and parking so that they could take pictures, or watch it. I ran outside, calling everyone in the house at the same time and we just watched it for about an hour. It kept coming closer and closer to our driveway..and then sort of shying away. At one point it started running DIRECTLY towards us and I screamed and ran back towards the house, but then it stopped. It was so funny it kept starring at me, watching me. Finally it decided to cross the road and went up the hill behind my house.

Hee hee...that's my second moose sighting this week.
  • I should post my picture of me and my Moose sighting, but if you all are not Dallas Cowboy fans, you might not recognize Darryl Johnson!!!

  • My friend and I, and everyone who's friends with her have a joke as to what the proper pluralization of moose should be. She said that if the plural of goose is geese, then the plural of moose should be meese. I'm inclined too agree.

But meese are fun. Here's a fun story about a moose stealing a bike.

Swedish moose runs off with bicycle

    Associated Press — May 26, 2004
STOCKHOLM, Sweden — The massive moose didn't take it for a joyride, but she did run off with Bjoern and Monica Helamb's bicycle, the couple said Monday.

The married couple was ready for the moose, which has visited their yard in Vuoggatjalme in northern Sweden annually since 1995 to snack on their roses. This year, though, they put their bicycle in front of the flowers in a bid to protect them.

"So we thought we would at least protect our favorite roses from her appetite by making it harder for her to get to them," Bojern Helamb told The Associated Press.

    It didn't help.

The moose, dubbed "Droopy Ear" because of her deformed ears, slid her head through the bike's frame and munched on the roses last week, sating her appetite with a flowery feast.

"Then she disappeared, with the bike hanging around her neck," Helamb said.

He found the bike later, about 1,640 feet from the house, bent apart and beyond repair.

Despite purloining the bicycle, Droopy Ear came back over the weekend for roses, but was chased away by the couple.
  • ha ha ha, that's great....we actually have an overabundance of moose here...they have a lottery and give out 2,000 permits a year to people who hunt them....they get in a lot of car-related accidents....about ten years ago my mom was driving to work when a moose came from out of the woods and clobbered the rear of her car. Took out her bumper and tail-lights...after that she got a bumper sticker that said: "BREAK FOR MOOSE...IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!!"

    heh heh.
