water aerobics?

  • I will be starting water aerobics classes this weekend. I have been suffering with chronic back pain for 6 months now and find other modes of exercising irritating to my lower back. I know all of the benefits of exercise in water, but the one thing I am concerned about is pain afterwards. Would love to hear from others who have tried this and curious whether your pain was better or worse after the class.

  • never had pain afterwards. really and truly!!! and this from a woman whose doc can't figure out why i'm not begging for knee replacements!

i've done water aerobics mostly when i've torn the cartilage in my knee and could barely walk. i was in so much pain that even gently bouncing in the water and touching bottom hurt like the dickens.. but a few modifications, like sitting on those wonderful supportive water noodles, made it all possible. no pain. really.

go enjoy. and even better, if you can get it, the whirlpool afterwards!!!!
