Lauen H - Where/How are you?

  • Lauren H: First, how is DH? Thinking of you both a lot lately.
    Second, how was the vacation?
Third, have you been hit with any of the layoffs at work?

Hope all is well with you. Hope there is good news to report. (Did you notice? Now, you have to "report" to me!! )

I haven't been posting lately. Not much to say. Painted the living room, dining room and hall this weekend - and it took DH and I ALL weekend to do it. DH was tired and I was (still am) exhausted. I've been coming to work to rest.

  • Annie, thanks so much for thinking of me. It's a nice feeling.

Vacation was fantastic; we just got back this past weekend. It's one of those once-in-a-lifetime weeks, just perfect. Somehow we managed to put the cancer monster away for one week and just focus on the beauty of being up north on the lake. We also ate a ton of fantastic food and wonderful restaurants; I was sure I'd gained a lot of weight, but nope. It must be all the fish I ate!

DH got his test results today, and they look good. We won't know for sure without a biopsy, and for various reasons a biopsy is not a good option. So we're in wait-and-see mode. He's going to have another test done in four months; if that one is good, then we're probably home free. The doctor is 99.999999 percent sure it's not cancer, so I'm feeling much less panicky now. And my appetite has returned -- with a vengeance!

We had yet another layoff -- our fourth this year -- and I once again dodged it. But I'm getting out resumes. Our CEO just said they're going to "reevaluate things" again at the end of June. So that continues to be interesting.

Congrats on painting all those rooms! That's quite an accomplishment. We need to do that, too. What colors did you use?

  • Sounds like you had a wonderful, memorable time. That's the only time I eat seafood is in a restaurant. I just can't seem to get it right at home. It's cooked of course, but it never has the same flavor. Did you do any sightseeing, go anywhere interesting, or just snuggle and keep warm?

So relieved about your DH's test results so far. I will probably never understand why people have to wait as long as they do for test results. I had to wait over a 3 day weekend once and it was nerve-wrecking to say the least.

Business lingo: a nice way to say "it ain't lookin' good". So they will "reevaluate", huh? Last night on the news they used the term "better sizing". I just rolled my eyes. Just another uncertainty you don't need. Send out those resumes with confidence - and good luck!

The livingroom and dining room at my house are all one big open room and then there's the hall. We painted the three a very light gray (it looks very close to white actually but when the light hits it a certain way it reflects the color of the furniture and when the light hits it another way it takes on other hues). The hardest part was trimming up by the ceiling (it's vaulted and about 12 feet up). I let DH "volunteer" for that job. There's no way I'd have able to reach even with the ladder.

Well, I had just been thinking about you all week while you were gone, hoping you were having a good time but also wondering about the tests, so now we can worry about someone else. LOL
