Remember WW Freedom Plan?

  • Does anyone out there remember the old WW Freedom Plan,
before they introduced the points system? I personally miss
the old plan and would appreciate hearing from anyone who
still has the literature on it. I liked the feature of unlimited
fruits as well as unlimited veggies...in fact a great diet book
called "Volumetrics" suggests eating all the whole fruit you want
along with unlimited low starch veggies for weight loss.

Anyone remember this plan? And if so, was unlimited dried fruit
included in the fruit selection? I'm trying to write to WW to get
info on this "old" program, but can't find any email feature on
their website! Thanks in advance. Joycelyn
  • I don't know it, but if you go to ebay they have a lot of old WW books that people are selling. Maybe you could find info on it there.....

    Good luck!

  • http://www.half.com also has many, many books for half price or less.

I remember that program, and I thought I remember that dried fruits were limited because of the sugar.

    Then again, maybe not.

My first experience with WW was in 1970. I still have the original cookbook! Somehow, I just can't part with it, even though I'm using a different program.

Good luck to you in finding the materials. Have you checked in the WW forums here?

  • Thanks
Thanks for your replies. I think I'll surf this website and see what I can find. Looking back, the Freedom Plan version of WW was the only one I could ever stick to...amazing that as time went by and I decided to try "better" diet plans, I threw out the material in the process!

Hope someone remembers the program...I'd be willing to pay for xeroxed material. In hindsight, I really miss that one program.
  • W W Freedom Plan
Joycelyn, if you will look down in this forum "diet plans" there is another W W thread. Read the thread as WWgal (I believe) is doing the Freedom Plan. Hope this helps.
  • Thanks
Thank you very much. Everyone is so helpful here. I'll check it out now.
  • Joycelyn...i've looked in my book and dried fruit is as follows:
    apple,quarter cup 1fr\v
    apricots, 6 halves 1fr\v
    currants,quarter cup 2fr\v
    fig, 1 1fr\v
    mixed,quarter cup 2fr\v
    prunes, 2 1fr\v
    raisins,quarter cup 2fr\v

    i hope this helps you
  • Thank you
This helps me so much. Thank you! I thought dried fruit were counted
the same as fruits/veg and they are.

Of course I won't be eating a pound of dried dates in one sitting,
but common sense tells me that fruits, even dried fruits are a
    good, healthy alternative to junk.

I found good info on the Freedom plan from WW gal (thank you WW
gal!) on the basics of the Freedom plan, and I'll be starting it
    tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. You're all the greatest!

  • W W current plan
Longsideowner, Drop on down to the Weight Watcher Section. Most of them are following the Current Program of W W and can answer your questions. W W is a great healthy way to lose weight. You can follow the plan for a lifetime and not be deprived or tired of eating only certain items. I did W W as far back as the 70's. The new programs are so much easier to follow. I reached goal last Oct. after losing 70 pounds. It didn't just drop off but sticking to the program pays off. Good Luck to you
