Gettin' together

  • Hey, people, I'm looking for a small group, or a buddy for weight loss support. I follow a low fat, low cal food plan, along the lines of Jenny Craig. Do exercise. I'm 40, live in NY with my bf and cat. I've lost 47 lbs in the past couple of years and recommitted this January to rev it up. Love to have a couple of people to discuss ups and downs, tips, etc.
  • Sounds like you have a plan! Good luck and I would love to have a buddy!
  • Hi Tina and Marge (and anyone else who wants to buddy up),
I'm new to this site as well and would love to have on-line friends to start my day with, talk about issues, and commit a daily food goal plan to (as well as to report when I mess up!) Which has tended to be quite often in the last few years!

I am 46, am from (freezing) northern PA and have been dieting off and on since I was 13. Like you ladies, I have quite a few pounds to lose. I am so angry at myself, as I was near my goal weight twice in my life (I still refuse to throw out my nice "skinny" clothes, which have been sitting in a pile in my extra bedroom for 3 years). I just got too cocky and thought I could eat in moderation and maintain my loss, but that is a joke! I am a total goodie addict and can't stop once I start any of the nasty white sugary or floury stuff.

So, like you folks, I am starting yet again. I joined Curves to exercise and have committed to going 5 times a week and am using my old Weight Watchers points program. I am too embarassed to go back, as I am now over 200+lbs. and when I went there, I was almost near my goal. (The roads have been too icy here, and that is my "excuse" for not going back. But I will!

Hope you find strength and peace with food today.

  • Hi, Ladies, nice to hear from you!

Had such a migraine on Thursday that I had to curb the exercise a little. I did contact the local Y and found out their membership is affordable, so Rob and I are going to take a look at the facilities this week and I plan to start the beginning of April. My first gym membership, whew!

I quit doing fitday every day because I think I was winding myself too tight. I've been doing this for a while, so I know what I need to eat to stay in my calories, and I plan to go to fitday if I start to vary what I eat to make sure the calories are on track.

I wouldn't be embarrassed about going back to WW, if that's what you want to do. Believe, me I have joined and rejoined a bunch of times, I'm sure lots of others at that meeting have too. It's a learning process for everybody. I went on my first WW diet when I was 17; I'm no stranger to yo-yo dieting, unfortunately. I feel like I've learned so much since then, in terms of changing my lifestyle. It took years and lots of work, one step at a time.

Let me know how you like Curves. We have one in our neighborhood too. Have a great day and check in when you have the chance

I hope you ladies will join in, and anyone else who might be interested, I hope you'll come over and share too.

    Best,
