Advice please, all you thin chicks!

  • Hi there, all you sucessful thin chicks! I wondered if you could give me a few pointers on how to get over my last 3 pounds to get to goal.

I usually post elsewhere on this site but thought I would take advantage of your vast experience on this matter, because basically, its starting to 'do my head in!'

I am sticking to my points, I am allowed 19 per day, (we don't get a weekly flex allowance over here), I am 5"1', and desperately need a few extra pounds off. I seem to be taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back constantly, and have found myself struggling since before Christmas. Every bit of water retention (around TOM) or the slightest thing seems to hold me back now.

Any ideas? I never was good with a plateau, but this is just too much for me to handle now, I don't want to give up at the last hurdle. HELP!
  • Gosh, Dawny, you're so close. Please don't give up now. Have you tried eating high points one day and low points the next, in other words, like a seesaw. Sometimes that mixes your body up and you lose. Are you exercising? Also, watch sodium intake; that can cause water retention. If you eat salty foods, processed foods, and many frozen dinners (yes, even Smart Ones), you will get too much sodium.

Now, go forth, you can do this.
  • Dawny:

You're doing great - congratulations. Domina has given you some good advice. The exercise is especially important. Hang in there - getting to goal is such a great feeling.

    Susan
  • Thanks Domina and Susan, great advice there. I do try and exercise when I can, although maybe not as often as I would like! I try to watch sodium also, the ready prepared meals, which were once a large part of my diet are no longer eaten at all, and extra salt is rarely added now also. I like the idea of 'seesawing' my points days. Not tried that one before, although I have noticed in the past if I've been extra 'good' for a few days, then had a couple of days where I may have eaten out for example, then I tend to have lost better, so I will give that a try.

    Many thanks again.
  • Congradulations Dawnydy! Great work, keep going you can do it!
I had stayed at the same weight for 7 week before losing the last five pounds to my goal. So I do understand your frustration!!! I paid very close attention to my measurements and portion size, counted every thing that went into my mouth, drank my water and increased my activity. I was walking 45 min. a day and did step aerobics and weight training on alternate days. You go girl, you can and will do it!
