new to site and weightloss!

  • Hi, my name is Jyn and I am brand new to this site. My mother sent me a link to this site a couple of weeks ago and I have been looking on it for moral support. I am about 235lbs (which isn't so bad because i was 260 as of last Febuary ). Just since I have been out of high school I have put on those 60 some odd pounds while i was living in Seattle (oh my god they have some amazing food out there), but since i have moved back to Montana i have been really trying to focus on getting myself healthier. I come from a very obese southern family and sometimes the odds just seem against me, and after breaking up with my long term boyfriend last year ( he said i looked to much like a guy becuase of my extra weight and my short short hair) I have really been trying to get things in perspective. I have wanted to lose this weight for years now but I never have the motivation to do so. i would idealistcly like to be about 150-170, i have started to swim about 2-3 times a weeks and have been cutting down my calories to about 1200-1500 a day, and trying to cut down n the soda (huge weakness for me!) if anyone has any info on how they were able to boost there motivation please let me know, or if anyone would like a partner. I sometimes dont think that i view myself as heavy as I am (has anybody else had this problem of denial?) and i get away with it because being in the punk rock lifestyle I can just cover it up with baggy clothing but i am just not happy anymore with myself or my image. So thanks for listening and i am really stoked about being part of this website.
  • Welcome Jyn,
I know you will find all the support you need here. This is a very diverse place with every kind of support group you could imagine. I wish you all the luck reaching your goal.
  • The support section of the 3FC forum is great for support (the section this thread is in) but since you are in the punk rock lifestyle you might also like the Alternachicks forum here as well. There are lots of us crazies over there from many walks of life!

Good luck to you-I find this forum in general is a great place for support!
