Howdy,
Is anyone here insulin resistant? I have PCOS and have the IS to go with it as well. I would just like some advice.
I have been doing the SBD for a few months and have been very serious over the last month or so... very much staying on plan. When I am on phase 1, I lose weight quite well, not fast but it comes off... as soon as I start to add things it it really stalls and I also add weight on very quickly. So my weight is yoyoing quite badly. I have tried a variety of foods to add, usually including them in my lunch meal.
But the odd thing is that I went off plan for awhile and had low GI carbs with every meal (prefer wholegrain and brown to white anyway and feel better eating them) and my weight starts to go down again.
So I have been doing some reading and a drastically reduced carb intake can actually decrease your insulin sensitivity further, exacerbating weight issues when you start to add carbs back in. I like the detoxing effects of phase 1, but perhaps it isn't great for the insulin resistance? Has anyone found this?
I will have a month of eating a SBD/low GI menu plan and see how it pans out. The low GI info I have is very similar to someone who has been on phase 2 for quite some time. I have just been baffled by my weight going all over the place.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
Marianna

At least we can work on getting through this together!

I'm glad to see that there are more of us here and can be there to encourage each other when this stuff just gets ridiculously HARD!!!
